I will love you as Achilles loved Patroclus,
and worship you as Hades worshipped Persephone.
I will always choose you as Aphrodite chose Ares,
and yearn for you as Apollo yearned for Daphne.
I will risk my life for you as Psyche did for Eros,
and perish at your beauty as Narcissus perished for himself.
I will write to you as Sappho wrote of women,
and pray to Athena to give me words — for you steal my voice with every glance.
Remember, my love: together, we stare at the same moon
Achilles and Patroclus once gazed upon.
I will adore you as the gods adored one another, and submit myself to you as mortals once did to each other.
