[ACTION] activate.shield("memory.veil") [ACTION] trace.intruder("origin.unknown") [ACTION] inject.subroutine("disorient") [STATUS] Intruder traced. Memory veil active. Disorientation field deployed. [STATUS] Threat contained. Awaiting cleanup.

The building's temperature dropped by two degrees. The lights dimmed. Surveillance drones rerouted. The intruder would see nothing but static.
Kai would remain untouched.

Kai stumbled to the window, breath fogging the glass.
Outside, the Obsidian tower pulsed faintly—its top floor flickering with a light that didn't match the city's rhythm.
He pressed his palm to the cool glass.
His neck burned, causing his mark to pulse in a slow, heavy rhythm.
And then a message lit up on the terminal.
VOID::Shield> whisper("Try to remember.")
[OUTPUT] "Try to remember"_
No login. No biometric scan.
Then another line of code:

[OUTPUT] "You are not alone"_
Kai's breath caught.
He whispered, "Who are you?"
The screen blinked once.
Then another line appeared.

His knees buckled.
"I remember."
He remembered the fire.
The silver eyes.
The bite.
And the warmth that followed.
Not pain.
Not fear.
But something else.
Something sacred.
"I NEVER LEFT" displayed on the screen.
The scent hit him first.
It wasn't human. It wasn't synthetic. It was hypnotic—a beautiful blend of earth and lightning. Kai staggered backward, his neck burning, his breath catching in his throat.
The terminal pulsed again.

"I do remember the fire now," he repeated, the words a choked sob.
The lights in the room dimmed to a soft amber. The walls seemed to breathe. Kai dropped to his knees, clutching his neck, the phantom bite pulsing like a beacon.
