Night time had fallen over camp Jericho, the students of Nevermore were out enjoying the bonfires and night time stargazing.
Except Demitra.
She was sat across from a zombie watching him try and eat the black wooden coffin in the corner of the room.
She closed her eyes and sighed - she felt like she was babysitting a particularly stupid three year old.
''Pugsley left you sandwiches, you could always eat those?'' she sighed hopefully.
The zombie carried on eating the coffin.
''Or not.''
There was no denying that the zombie had changed. He now seemed less rotted - the charred flesh from before now seemed slightly smoother and less green and he now sported almost a full head of hair.
He still smelt horrible though.
BANG
Her eyes jolted open and she quickly stood up as the whistle and bang of fireworks filled the air.
Someone was trying to break in.
''Erm.. ok. Just stay put, alright?'' Demitra stressed, running out to see what the commotion was.
She spotted the wilderness group, who all wore a ridiculous outfit made of grass.
They promptly yelled and charged at her, causing her to squeal highly and run away.
And as she ran from the tent towards the bonfire, she was completely oblivious to the leader of a rival wilderness group being killed in the tent she was just sitting in.
As she ran up to Eugene and Pugsley, who had looked at each other in panic in unison, she saw them lunge forward towards her.
''Demitra, where's slurp?!'' Pugsley panicked.
''He's over in the te-'' she trailed off after seeing a certain zombie swinging an axe around madly, '' I.. lost the zombie,''
The three ran into the tent to avoid the rest of the outcasts potentially hearing about who they had been harbouring.
''I knew we should've told someone, Slurp was more your friend anyway,'' Eugene ranted.
''Harbouring a murderous zombie will get both your butts expelled for sure,'' a soft, high pitched voice spoke, seemingly from thin air before the body of a pigtailed redhead - who Wednesday had told her was called Agnes - appeared from nowhere.
''Ugh,'' Eugene rolled his eyes.
''What are you doing here?'' Pugsley asked.
''Proving myself to your sister by handling her low-priority tasks,'' Agnes said creepily, ''Like keeping you alive.''
Pugsley scoffed in annoyance - Demitra almost felt bad for the boy.
''We need to find Slurp,'' he said determined.
''No way. I'm out of the zombie business!'' Eugene exclaimed.
''You want a killer zombie to walk around a camp full of children then?'' Demitra sided with Pugsley.
''Relax. Slurp never tried to eat my brain,'' Pugsley shhrugged
''Because that would be empty calories,'' Agnes chipped.
Demitra laughed, ''I like this girl.''
''Look, the last time I was alone with a monster in the woods, I ended up in a coma,'' Eugene argued.
''Stop bragging,'' Pugsley sighed before the three dragged Eugene out of the tent.
''Where do you think he's gone?'' Pugsley asked.
''Look, it's his footprints,'' Demitra spotted the marks from where Slurp had dragged his feet through the dirt.
The three followed the tracks all the way into the male shower block and went to run in when Demitra skidded to a stop.
''Well, I can't go in there it's the men's showers,'' she explained to their questioning looks.
The teens rolled their eyes at her antics and dragged her into the building.
As the four ran in they saw Slurp peering into the shower cubicle where Gomez Addams showered, trying to eat his brains.
''No slurp, not my dad,'' Pugsley cried.
The young Addams' hands sparked with electricity, he shot the bolts straight into the zombie's chest, who flew backwards and crashed into the wall before crawling out into the camp grounds.
The group in the cubicles stared in disbelief as an array of petrified screams filled the air with the zombie's appearance.
When the sound of sirens rang, Demitra ran outside in a hurry.
The camp was in chaos, the place was trashed and the student's whimpered as the zombie was wheeled through.
Demitra gasped at the sight.
Slurp was trapped inside a white straitjacket, tied onto a trolley with which a police officer pushed him into a large van.
Rushing forward to a police officer, she asked, ''Excuse me where are you taking him?''
''Him? That thing is far from a him,'' The officer grimaced.
''Just answer the question please,'' she glared.
''To the asylum, where it belongs.''
''Will he ever be released?''
''Of course not!'' the officer laughed, ''Did it eat your brains as well?''
''Obviously not,'' she gritted.
''Sorry you had to deal with a zombie anyway, terrible business. It won't bother anyone ever again,''
''Miss Velelska!'' an angry voice spat, turning around she saw a fuming Principal Dort, ''a word.''
Demitra sighed and slowly made her way over.
Things should feel better for her. She should be happy that the zombie away from endangering anyone else.
Emphasis on the should.
