Scene: Y/N spotted the cat halfway up the old oak near the garden beds—tiny, trembling, and meowing like its life depended on her.

Without thinking, she climbed.

The bark was slick, the branches thin, but she reached the kitten and tucked it into her shirt. "Gotcha," she whispered.

Then her foot slipped.

She hit the ground hard, ankle twisting beneath her. Pain shot up her leg, but she bit it back. The kitten was safe. That's what mattered.

Med-jacks rushed over, fussing and fretting. Y/N waved them off. "I'm fine. Just a scratch."

They didn't buy it. She was limping. Badly.

"Don't tell Newt," she hissed. "He'll freak."

Too late.

Newt appeared minutes later, eyes scanning the scene. "What happened?"

Y/N stood straighter, forcing a smile. "Nothing. Just... gardening."

Newt's gaze dropped to her ankle, now wrapped and elevated. "Gardening?"

She shrugged. "Extreme gardening."

He crossed his arms. "You climbed a tree for a cat, didn't you?"

Y/N looked away. "It was stuck."

Newt sighed, walking over and gently brushing her hair back. "You could've asked for help."

"I didn't want to bother anyone."

"You're never a bother," he said softly. "Especially not to me."

The kitten peeked out from her shirt, meowing.

Newt chuckled. "Well, at least you saved the little bugger."

Y/N smiled, wincing as she shifted. Newt noticed.

"Sit still," he said, kneeling beside her. "You're brave. But you don't have to be alone in it."

Newt's Reaction (retelling the moment):

"She climbed a tree for a cat. Fell. Got hurt. And still tried to hide it from me."

"That's Y/N. Fierce. Stubborn. Selfless."

"I wasn't mad. I was scared. Because loving someone means you feel every fall they take."
