It was still dark outside, barely 4 AM, when Siya's patience was already running thin. She was fuming in irritation, her hair messy from sleep, but her little Ishivik had already woken up.
The moment he didn't find Siya beside him on the bed, his innocent face immediately twisted into the look of crying. His tiny lips trembled, his big eyes welled up, and he clutched the blanket tightly as if the world was slipping away.
"Aarey baacha, kya hua?" Siya's voice softened the moment she saw him.
[Hey baby, what happened?]
Without wasting a second, Ishivik ran into her arms and hugged her with all the strength his little body could muster. His babyish voice broke Siya's heart as he whispered, "I thought you left like Mumma Papa..."
Siya froze. For a moment, her chest tightened as though someone had twisted her heart. She hugged him tighter, placing a kiss on his messy hair.
"Aww mera baacha, I am not going anywhere. Why did you wake up so early, ha?"
[Aww my baby, I am not going anywhere. Why did you wake up so early, ha?]
He sniffled, rubbing his eyes. "Yeshiii... but I haven't done my homework. Teacher will scold me."
Siya chuckled softly, cupping his face and making him look into her eyes.
"Aww, okay. First tell me, where are your books? But before that, freshen up, my handsome boy."
[Aww, okay. First tell me, where are your books? But before that, freshen up, my handsome boy.]
The word handsome made Ishivik's cheeks instantly flush a deep pink. Siya noticed it and giggled, her heart melting at his innocence.
"Aww, my baby is blushing." She leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on his chubby cheeks.
Blushing harder, he pointed towards his study table, where his books were neatly stacked. Siya smiled proudly at his discipline. They both freshened up quickly and sat together at the table.
Ishivik, who was only in Standard 2, began to explain in detail the mountain of homework he had been assigned. Siya's eyes widened.
"Baache, itna homework? Okay, give me half, I'll do it for you."
[Child, so much homework? Okay, give me half, I'll do it for you.]
But Ishivik immediately shook his head, his innocent eyes filled with fear. "But teacher will hit me if she knows..."
Siya cupped his face again, her voice firm but tender.
"Tumhari teacher ko batayega kaun? Don't worry, I am experienced in this."
[Who will tell your teacher? Don't worry, I'm experienced in this.]
Still, she wanted to set things straight. Her voice dropped low, serious yet affectionate.
"But after this, you will talk to your brother, okay baby?" Siya insisted gently.
"Okay... as you say, Ma." Ishivik nodded slowly. But then, his small lips trembled again as sadness returned to his face. "But I was sad, you know Ma... that Hareen aunty told me she will separate me from Bhai..." he whispered, tears threatening to spill.
Siya's eyes filled with anger and pain at the same time. She immediately pulled him into her lap, stroking his hair.
"No one will separate you from your Bhai and me, jaan. Never."
[No one will separate you from your brother and me, love. Never.]

On the other side...
"Yaar, tune kisi se shaadi kar hi li hai. Teri biwi toh world war ki army se bhi zyada bhayanak lagti hai." Agastay groaned dramatically, getting up from the floor.
[Bro, you actually went and got married. Your wife looks scarier than the World War army itself.]
Ruhaan shot him a sharp glare. "Shut up. Let's go for a walk."
The two friends walked through the quiet, chilly dawn, their footsteps echoing in the stillness. But when they returned, something unusual caught their attention.
