PROLOGUE 2

"He misses you."

saturday

"Okay, I'll talk to you later."

Natalie Briggs was on the phone with her mom as she packed her suitcase. She had spent the entire summer in New York and was preparing for her flight the next day.

"Okay, bye honey." Her mom spoke through the speaker before hanging up.

She released the phone from her ear, tossing it onto her bed right next to her suitcase.

Danny had left 2 months ago as Jackie surprisingly went with them on the trip.

So now it was just the two girls.

Natalie knew why Jackie left, she had told her and only her two weeks into the stay at New York. With how much time the two girls have spent together, they gotten really close.

Yes, Grace and her would call daily. However, she would consider Jackie her bestfriend more than Grace was.

On top of that, her mom was getting worse. That was the second time she was able to talk to her after the 3 months she's been gone.

The only positive trait about this trip was her college credits she was getting, the internship and leaving Silver Falls.

Nat really needed a breather from that place, especially after what happened.

After folding her clothes nearly into her suitcase, she waited to zip it up considering she had one more night here.

She was waiting for Jackie to come back to the apartment so they could go out before Natalie left.

She knew Jackie wasn't coming back to Colorado, and it killed her.

Suddenly, she hears the apartment door open, signaling Jackie was home.

Natalie exits the room, grabbing her phone before leaving. "Jackie, i'm glad you're here—Do you know where my blue button up is?" She spoke, looking down at her phone for a minute before bringing her eyes up.

When she did, she spotted two people. Yes, one was Jackie. But the other person was..
