Was going to Cousins with her ex boyfriend the best plan in the world?
No.
Did the girl overthink it?
Yes.
But did that stop the girl from packing her bags and getting in the same car as him?
No.
After everything's happened to them, she just wanted things to go back to normal. Where the couple was still together, Susannah was alive, and she was on speaking terms with her friends.
Yeah Taylor and Belly. About that.
She hasn't talked to any of them since she got to Cousins. Was she supposed to? It's not like they reached out to her too. And she was done doing it. For years when she was away for college, she was always the one who reached out. Planned Facetime calls, check up texts. Taylor and Belly? Never.
Is she being petty?
Sure. Let her be petty.
The girl was unpacking her clothes as she heard a knock on her door. The door opened relieving the only person who's in this big house. "Hey."
"Hi."
"Um... I'm going for a run." The boy said, slowly as she nodded. "You can join me if you want?"
Briella looked at the boy. He has been nothing but nice to her. After everything she's done to him, he's still here for her. "Really?" Conrad nodded. "Okay."
"Okay, cool. Um... I'll wait downstairs." With that the boy left to give the girl some time to change.
Guess she's going on a run with her ex-boyfriend. What could possibly go wrong?
Well what she didn't know was downstairs, Conrad found out the pair wasn't the only ones in the house. His younger brother and fiancee were staying here too.
"Right, the wedding. So you guys are really doing it huh?" Conrad asked.
"It's happening." Jeremiah said smiling at Belly who smiled at him back.
Gross.
"So what, you guys just both gonna be hanging out here?" Conrad asked, trying not to be mean. He couldn't help it. He thought it would just be him and Briella in this house.
"Uh no actually, I've got to be at work first thing Monday." Jeremiah explained.
Jeremiah working? Now that's funny.
"Work?"
"Yeah, he's interning for your dad." Belly added.
"Really?" Conrad asked, surprised. Probably the only real job the boy can ever get considering his experience and skillset.
"Yeah and he's killing it." Belly smiled, grabbing his hand.
"Uh it's actually going about as well as you'd expect." Jeremiah said, sadly as the other Fisher brother nodded.
"So when's your clinic job start?" Belly asked Conrad.
The boy cringed. He decided not to tell them the truth, not yet at least. "Soon, I have to work on booking a return flight and all that jazz."
"I would love to talk with you about some stuff." Jeremiah said to his brother.
Conrad nodded, not really in the mood to talk to his brother. Not right now. "Yeah dude. I... we were about to go for a run."
"We?" Belly asked.
"Yeah um..." Before the boy could respond, Briella came into the room. To say she was very surprised to see the two people she didn't want to see right now was an understatement. What the hell were they doing here?
"Brie?" Belly said, confused. "What are you doing here?"
"Hi. I could be asking you guys the same question."
"It's good to see you Brie." Jeremiah smiled, but it quickly faded when he saw the girl just nod. Okay what did he do now?
"I thought you were back home?" Belly asked.
"I was. Now I'm here."
"Why?"
"Why do you care?"
"I don't I just..."
Briella scoffed. It was too early for this. She turned to the boy. "You ready to go?" She asked the boy who nodded.
"Yeah, yeah. Hey we'll chat when I get back okay?" Conrad said to his brother as he followed the girl out of the house.
