CHAPTER 016

"You guys might as well talk now that we're here."

DECEMBER 18th , 2023
Monday

Today has been a rough day for Natalie.

To start off, she got hardly any sleep as her phone blew up with randoms from her school following her and everyone asking if her and Isaac were a thing.

She also has seen Wesley too many times in the hallway throughout the day. He clearly didn't see her as she pretended not to see him. On top of that, dirty stares and wandering whispers followed her everywhere she walked.

And don't get her started on what Paige has been doing.

On the positive side, she talked to some of the Walter's she had class with, which seemed like average interactions they would have. Also, she hasn't seen Isaac yet that day—which made her feel better.

She was scared to talk to him. She didn't even end up going to the Walter's house on Sunday like she usually does just because of the fact she would have to speak to him somehow.

So now, Natalie was walking towards her lunch table, spray bottle in hand considering she had to bring her own supplies for the pottery project she was going to work on after school with some other students in her class since there was no practice after school anymore.

She sits down, throwing her sage green backpack onto the table whilst doing so. As she plops down, She looks over towards the hallway. When she does, she spots Grace talking to Lee, Nathan and Isaac.

She could feel her heart drop at the sight of him. As she slowly leans back in her chair, attempting to be discreet in order for him not to spot her whilst crossing her arms.

Although, she wasn't sneaky enough.

In the distance, she could spot him taking a bite of his red apple, slowing looking around the cafeteria until his eyes lock onto hers. Natalie's eyes slightly widen at the making of eye contact. This leads her to break it almost immediately as she looks down at her lap.

All she had to do is hope he didn't walk over here.

"Hey!" Skylar blurts out, making her look up.

She gives a small smile, slightly chewing on her nail.

"Oh, shoot—I forgot a cookie." He groans, looking back at the line. "I'll be back!" He says quickly, causing her to roll her eyes kiddingly. As she watched her quick friend walk away, he's replace by the spotting of Paige.
