“Stay close to me at all times.” Nicholas instructed as we highlighted out of the car. After driving for what seems like an hour, I was more than ready to come out and stretch my legs.
From what I could see…we were in the downtown area of the city…where most of the buildings were old and run down.
“Ok I will.” I responded.
“And remember use the manly voice I taught you.”
“Yea sure.” I replied, in my ‘manly’ voice.
Nicholas smiled. “Very good…. Now walk like how I showed you.” He instructed.
I imitated what he had told me to how.
“Not bad…..Make it manlier.” He said.
“Ok” I straightened my hoodie and pulled the hood over my head.
I was wearing a wig with short brown hair, in a boyish cut. It kind of looks like Justin Bieber’s first hairstyle.
The Beiber…..or so I call it…
Anyways...
“Alright it’s show time.” Nicholas said grimly.
“Ok I’m ready.” I followed him down the dark alley, where the walls were lined with men and women. Most of both sexes were half-naked. In addition, they all stared at Nick and me as we passed by. One of the women who frankly looked like a prostitute winked at me…in what she would call a sexy way.
Now that is what you call an awkward moment….
I stayed close to Nick and walked ‘manly’.
“And please whatever you do, don’t speak your thoughts out loud.” Nicholas muttered.
If I wasn’t terrified of these people, I would so laugh out loud but seeing that I’m supposed to be a boy…I’m pretty sure I can’t chuckle “manly” so I just nodded.
We reached the end of the alley …but I was slightly…no…very confused. It was a dead end…There was just a very high wall. And when I looked up I couldn’t see how far it went because it was so dark.
But there was another shorter ally to my right...it also lead to a dead end.
“Ummm…Nick it’s a wall.” I whispered.
Nicholas chuckled,” I know…”
I watched in wonder as he placed his hand on the grimy wall and pushed it…to my dismay it sank in. Now what used to be a solid wall was now a door.
“Cool!” I murmured.
Nicholas grinned and then he pushed the wall…ummm...sorry…door…and it slid to the right.
When I peeked inside, I saw a very long, slightly narrow, passageway that was dimly lit with fading lights.
“Come on…” Nick mumbled he entered before me and once again, I followed him in.
I jumped a little when I heard it slam shut.
We walked down his passage for some time until we reached another wall. Nicholas did the same thing as he did with the first wall. When it opened up, I could barely see. Nevertheless, I could make out some spiraling stairs.
