Adithya’S pov
Adi’s Office
The door to my cabin opened.
"Asha Kapur came," my assistant announced.
I didn’t look up.
Of course she came.
Of course she wouldn’t stop at just a kiss.
She walked in like she owned the place heels clicking sharply against the marble,She was smirking.
"Morning, Mr. Groom-to-be," she said, voice sickly sweet
"You’re early." I gritted my teeth, not looking at her.
"I’m a professional, remember?" she quipped, walking to my desk and casually placing her iPad down.
Her fingers brushed against mine a second too long. I yanked my hand away.
"Now, let’s plan your perfect little fairytale wedding," she chuckled
"We need to finalize the pre-wedding décor," she continued, "Thought we could go over the options... up close."
I didn’t respond.
"Venue’s booked, but I wanted your input on the theme—Rustic? Royal? Or something… darker. Like us."
"Go with whatever Eisha likes," I said flatly She blinked.
"Pastels or deep wine tones? I know what she likes… but I also know what you like."
"Go with whatever Eisha likes," I repeated louder this time She leaned over the desk, eyes gleaming.
"Hmm. But it’s your wedding too, Adi. Or is Eisha going to marry herself? Or maybe…" she lowered her voice, "the groom, Adithya Agarwal, elopes with his secret girlfriend instead?"
I shot up from my chair.
"Enough!!Just do your job, Asha!"I snapped
"Oh, I am doing my job,Very well, in fact. You just don’t know what my real job is yet."she said, circling the desk slowly.
Before I could respond, her phone lit up.
She looked at the screen. Then at me.
And that smirk? It deepened.
“Guess who?” she whispered, holding the phone up to my face.
"Eisha Singh"
She answered it. On speaker.
"Hi, Eisha! What a sweet surprise!" she said in her fakest honey dipped tone.
I froze, panic clawing up my throat.
"Hey, Asha!" Eisha’s cheerful tone
"Just checking in! Did you show Adi the mockups?"
"Oh yes," Asha replied, eyes locked onto mine, voice a dagger in silk.
"We’re working very closely on all the details."
I could almost hear the wink in her voice.
"That’s great!" Eisha laughed.
"I want everything to be perfect!"
"Trust me." Asha whispered, never breaking eye contact.
"It’ll be... unforgettable."
"I trust you a lot, Asha. And thank you again!"
The call ended.
Silence.
"Asha,What the hell are you trying to do?"" I growled, fists clenched on the desk.
She walked around slowly, stalking me like a predator.
"Trying?Oh, baby… I already did it. Look at you. You’re a wreck."she laughed lowly.
"You think this is a game?" I roared.
"You think kissing me, being my wedding planner, creeping back into my life, tormenting me it’s just entertainment to you?"
"No, Adi. This isn’t a game." Her voice dropped into something colder, deadlier.
"This is war. And you should know by now... I always win."
I turned my back to her, chest heaving.
But her footsteps came closer.
"Running away again?"
she whispered behind me.
I turned around, glaring.
"Why now, Asha? Why come back now? After everything"
She stepped closer until there was barely a breath between us.
"Because I made a mistake. And I don’t lose what’s mine."
"I’m not yours."I flinched
She smirked, reaching up and touching the collar of my shirt.
"Warning, Adithya," she whispered.
"In twenty-four hours, you’ll come running to me. Not because you want to but because you can’t help it."
She turned, heading for the door, hips swaying with pure arrogance.
At the door, she paused.
"You can lie to Eisha. You can lie to yourself. But not to me, Adi. I know how your heart beats. It still beats for me."
SLAM.
The door shut.
And I collapsed into my chair, breath ragged. My fingers trembled.
Twenty-four hours?
I wasn’t even sure I’d survive the next twenty-four minutes.
