I make my way to Mr. Tomlinson's office. I don't know why he wants to see me, but I was told he wanted to see me. To be honest I'm a bit scared of whatever the reason might be. All I can focus on is all the negative out comes. Like how he could possibly yell at me for making a mistake or will tell me I'm terrible.
What if he fires me? I'd lose the apartment and even though I'm staying at Zayn's place, I still need it. I wouldn't have money so I'd need a another job, but I don't think I'd find one as good as this. Here my work hours are set for when I don't have class and it pays pretty well. If I can't find a job that has pretty much te same hours and pay I'll have to move back home. And I don't want that to happen.
I shake the negativity out of my head and knock on the class door. A few seconds later the door swings open to reveal Mr. Tomlinson. He has a blank expression as he orders me to come in and take a seat. I do as he says and look at him expectantly and nervously.
He takes his time sitting down behind his expensive desk. He stares at me intently, squinting. I shift uncomfortably under his harsh gaze. Out of all of Zayn's friends Mr. Tomlinson intimidates me the most. He is my boss and he seems really stern.
"I just wanted to talk to you about your work," he states.
"What about it?" I ask him, cautiously. I bite my bottom lip feeling even more nervous.
"I just wanted to let you know you are doing a brilliant job," he answers and relax in the chair.
I could finally breathe clearly now they I'm not stressing about why he wanted to speak.
"Thank you," I smile politely at him.
"It's not a a big deal," he shrugs. "But," my heart quicken again as I wait for him to continue. "There is one problem."
"What is it?" I ask, sitting straighter now.
"When you have early hours, such as today, your work seems to slack more. I'm assuming it's because it's so early, but it does need to be resolved. Especially if I decided to promote you."
"Promote me?" I ask, wide eyed.
"Yes," he nods sharply. "I need a personal assistant."
My face expression falls when I hear what the job would be. I'm not a personal assistant, I like numbers and the business world not answering phone calls and getting someone coffee. I wouldn't even be good at being someone's assistant.
"But I'm currently working in the finance apartment," I say, trying to indicate that I'm not really qualified to be his personal assistant.
"Yes, I am aware," he laughs. "Think of this job as the gateway to other, higher up jobs. I know you work with numbers and all that, but being my assistant for six months or so will give you more experience and credibility. I'm a very important aspect in Malik's companies and they are some of the biggest companies in the world. For you to have gotten an internship here is huge and being promoted, especially in a position that works so close to me, is even bigger. Plus you'd get your own office."
'Wow, I, uh," I have no clue what to say. The way he put it makes it impossible for me to say no, but it still doesn't change the fact that I have to no clue how to be a personal assistant. "I'm really grateful for the offer, but I would be terrible at being an assistant. And I'm pretty sure its more time consuming and I still have school to worry about."
"You're over thinking it," he tells me. "You'll still have the same work hours and most of the work could be done at your house. You'll get a pay raise and have a training day."
