Q1. What inspires you?

Answer: I am inspired by life and the world around me. I look for the drama in the everyday; the fact that life has been dramatic for me at times probably helps. We do not need to look to Hollywood for heroes and villains, they are all around us, some people may be both at the same time.

Q2. If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it have been and why?

Answer: 'Catch-22' by Joesph Heller. It is such a vividly accurate portrayal of a military unit at war. The characters are no doubt exaggerated for literary effect, but I certainly see the real people within the caricatures. The story works on so many levels, from the basic instinct for survival, to the Machiavellian politics within a large, hierarchical organisation.

Q3. How did you discover Wattpad?

Answer: My teenage stepdaughter told me about Wattpad. It took me ages to take the plunge and publish something, but I am glad I did.

Q4. Why do you write?

Answer: I enjoy the creative process, I write because I can't imagine not writing. Sometimes I find that a stanza, a subject or event will be rattling around my head and I know I just have to write, to get the thoughts onto the page.

Q5. What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?

Answer: I still put myself in the 'aspiring author' category so feel that I am hardly qualified to comment. My best advice is to keep writing and not give up. Share your work; whether through a writers' circle or sites like Wattpad. You need to be read to get the feedback and improve. I hid some of my poetry for nearly twenty years before I found Wattpad. A lot was on scraps of paper and is now lost.

Q6. What are you working on at the moment?

Answer: I want to complete the Afghanistan work that I have published on Wattpad. Once that is finished, I want to knit it all together into something that will be publishable in book form. I am gradually building a body of poetry that may one day form an anthology, but that is a long way off. There is a half written novel on the back burner that cannot sit there forever.

Bonus question added. This option was offered to everyone.
