How did I get here?

I remember being 13.

Imagining marrying Leonardo DiCaprio 

Before turning sweet 16.

Why do I have grey hairs, emerging out of my scalp?

In my eyebrows, and on my chin?

Yesterday, I was planning my 18th birthday and mastering the violin.

Why can't I fit in my loose clothes anymore?

And have to make sure I pee, before exiting the door?

I still remember buying my first pair of skinny jeans, that had thigh holes from wear and tear.

Why do my eyelids droop and my foundation's no longer smooth?

And if I don't position myself correctly, I can barely move?

I still remember the name of the cocktails I drank, and every word to the songs I sang when I took my year out.

Why am I invited to more dinners than parties?

And I need to wear flat shoes and expandable waists?

I still remember the hikes I did in Australia on my working holiday visa and all the names of the islands and the places.

Why do I forget everything that is not written down?

I even have reminders to remind me of my reminders?

Yet, I still remember all those memories, for those will never drown.
