"On your left," Walker came up behind her and swung his shield into the wiring a few times, effectively cutting off its power. "Go, go, go!"
Without wasting any time, Ava was out of there, with 25 seconds to spare. We all watched the door, waiting for it to open, hoping it would open. I tried to blink out of there as well, but something about the room was still holding me back.
"You think she's coming back?" Bob questioned, his worried eyes trained on the still very much closed door.
Walkers shoulders dropped, "I should've seen this coming."
"I'm sorry," I blurted without even thinking, as though this were all my fault. It was like I thought apologizing to him now would make amends for me not saving him before.
Bob's eyes peeled away from the door and landed on me, "what?"
Thankfully, the door opened before I had to answer.
Literally, without a second to spare, we all bolted to the door as fire sprayed behind us. Bob had stumbled over some debris from the earlier fighting, causing him to be just a couple feet behind us - a couple feet which would determine whether he lived or died.
I stopped in my tracks, pulled Bob ahead of me, then gave him a swift push; essentially propelling him forward, while I would take the brunt of the explosive flames.
The flame through all of us, but naturally I got the worst of it. I knew I was gonna be fine, but the way my body was about to slam into the concrete wall was going to hurt like a bitch.
And bitch it did.
Everything felt like it was breaking in slow motion. My back hit the jutting out corner of a wall first, shattering a few of my vertebrae. Then cracked against it, causing an ear splitting ringing to sound in my ears. Then everything went dark. I wasn't dead, but I couldn't see, hear, or feel anything below my waist. Not fun.
Slowly but surely I could feel the broken part of my body reconnecting - also not a fun feeling - like pinching your finger in between Lego. My broken arm mended first because it's a part of my body that breaks the most. My vision had returned quicker than expected, so had my hearing, although it was still a bit blurred and muffled.
"Hey, didn't think you'd come back, thanks," Walkers irritatingly cheery voice echoed through my head.
"I had to, someone cut the power to the elevator," Ava said bluntly.
"Uh, is- is she ok," I heard Bob's voice next as two figures approached me.
"It's ok, I'll be fine," I wheezed - 'must've damaged a lung too.'
I noticed Bob shifting back and forth uncomfortably as my vision became clearer. "It's my fault," I just barely heard him mumble.
"She'll be ok, just give her a few minutes," Yelena told him, "you should she it when she loses an arm, it's actually pretty cool."
"Yeah, I think Im starting to feel my toes again. This is just a new one for me. Surprisingly I don't break my back that often." They both looked a bit confused, so I explained that, "the more a break something the faster it heals."
"Still, it- it's my fault you got hurt," he looked like a wounded puppy.
"I mean, technically it's actually my fault. I pushed you out of the way to save you, that's on me, you had no control over that," I smiled, as I cautiously pushed myself into a seated position, wincing at the lingering pain.
"Why did you save me?" His eyes searched mine, like they held the answer. I knew he wanted to ask about the 'sorry' as well, but I'm thankful that he didn't.
I shrugged, glancing at Yelena, "that's what heroes do."
A small, almost unnoticeable smile planted on her lips as she offered me a hand, "ready?" I gripped her hand and nodded, "up."
She held my arm while I got my balance, and just like that I was up. The pain was tolerable and it would fizzle out soon, but Bob still looked horribly distraught.
"See, all good," I beamed, desperately trying to make him not feel so bad.
Now that we had all gotten our bearings, we had to come up with another plan to get out. We'd all joined together in the centre of the room, but Bob stayed back, pacing and mumbling.
"Everybody's got a reason for being here, except this guy," Walker noted as he pulled off his mask. "Hey, Bobby, less talking to yourself, more talking to us." Bob paused briefly, then continued without a word to us. "Bullshit, alright- why don't you tell me how you got in here right god damn now," he strode over to Bob, a military-like aggression in his tone.
I wanted to be upset at Walker, but his question was warranted, though he could've taken a nicer tone when asking.
"I-I swear man, I just woke up in this place," Bob answered as seriously as he could, "one minute I was, you know, getting my blood drawn for this medical study. And the next I'm- I'm here," he chuckled nervously, "in my pyjamas. I don't know what's happening."
"Show me where you woke up," Walker demanded.
Bob pointed back toward the vault, "in there."
"Where everything's on fire, that's real convenient."
"Walker, relax," Yelena said as he paced back over.
"And you don't remember anything?" Ava questioned. "A bag over your head? A needle in your neck?"
Bob shrugged, "no."
"Chokehold?" Walker added, "nerve pinch?"
"I think he's just a civilian," Yelena said.
I sighed, "that's what I've been saying."
"If he's a civilian, he knows too much- if he's an agent, he sucks. Either way, I say we throw him back in the fire," Walked so kindly suggested.
"Here Walker goes, getting trigger happy again," I jeered.
Bob smiled and laughed quietly to himself. "You said that you were Captain America?"
Walker cocked his head to the side, "why're you laughing?"
"Just 'cause, you're an asshole... you know," Bob's smile wavered as he spoke.
Walker, much to my surprise, started to laugh. Not a happy laugh, just a taunting laugh. The second he started moving toward Bob, my fists clenched at my side. I didn't want to intervene, but I was ready to fight a super soldier with my bare hands if I had to.
Walker's hand connected with Bob's chest, shoving him back into the wall and holding him there. I took a step forward, but Yelena gently grabbed my forearm to stop me from making any rash decisions.
"Hey, woah, okay," she let go and jogged over to them, "okay, woah woah woah," she pushed between the two guys, splitting them apart. "We swung our tiny dicks, it was a lot of fun... you go over there," she pointed to the other side of the room for Walker, "Bob, come with me."

A/N- The YN character is not unkillable like deadpool, she just has insanely fast regeneration (so like enough fire or acid could potentially kill her)
