This chapter will tell you everything you need to know about the Y/N characters backstory and her mutant abilities (Yea she's a little OP but idgaf, you just gotta trust that I won't overuse her power set) :D
You can skip this chapter if you want, but you will definitely be missing some important context.
Thanks for picking this story, and I hope you enjoy!!
It started off as a night like any other.
It was a Wednesday, so I had class until 7pm, meaning I would be home around 7:30. I thought that would be the worst part of my night - like it usually is - but boy was I wrong.
I hopped off the bus at the station directly across from the alleyway next to my apartment complex. As soon as the bus sped off, I noticed a black van, eerily parked in front of the door to the complex. I paid it no mind, assuming it was some sort of delivery service, though the pickup truck sitting in the shadows of the alleyway certainly had me on edge.
Cautiously I clutched my bag, took a deep breath, and crossed the road. The apartment was quiet, which was typical of a Wednesday evening, but something felt off.
That's when I heard it, loud crashing sound that seemingly came from the second floor. My heart started pounding - another crash. My mouth ran dry - then a gunshot rang out. By that sound alone I knew someone was in my apartment. My dad was in trouble.
I teleported up to the front door to save time, leveling my bag behind in the process, but I didn't care. The door opened a crack, so I charged in - I should have planned, strategized, anything, but I just wasn't thinking.
As soon as I was in there I was met with a horrifying sight. My dad was in bad shape, and somewhere deep inside of me, I knew this wasn't like all the other times I'd seen him beaten and bloodied.
"Dad!" I cried, shock flooding through my body.
"Get... out of here," he strained through gritted teeth, "run!"
But there was no time to react, no chance for either of us.
I felt an arm wrap itself taught around my neck, I thrashed around, trying to get him to let go, but he left me no other choice. I teleported out of his grasp, tacking his arm off with me. That was one downside to my mutant ability, I couldn't take people with me without disfiguring, injuring, or straight up killing them; though sometimes it was useful.
Unfortunately I blinked to a bad spot, my back facing the hallway that led to our rooms.
Something cold clicked around my neck. I quickly swung around, landing a solid punch to someone's face. The armour clad man barely reacted to my feeble little punch.
With ease he threw me to the ground at the same time the other soldier knocked my dad to the ground. Both of us pinned on our stomach, both unable to fight back. I tried to teleport away, but the collar around my neck shocked me each time, forcing me to stay put.
The man holding me down spoke into his earpiece, "all clear."
"Dad," I breathed, tears welling up in my eyes, "dad, what's going on?"
"I'm so sorry, kiddo," I'd never seen him look so defeated. "They wanted to take you, I-" the man pinning him slammed his head into the ground with an audible crack. There was a painfully long pause before he finally said, "whatever happens, I love you... so much."
Just then, a tall, thin man, dressed in a sleek white coat entered the room. He exuded such an annoying air of confidence, I knew I'd hate him even if he wasn't trying to harm us. As he slowly paced forward, cockily taking in his surroundings, I was able to read the little logo on his coat pocket; Oscorp.
