Chapter 17- the ball

It was the earliest of mornings when Lucy was woken up by a sound of bells in her ear.
It was Virgo ringing them.
The sun wasn't even up yet, yet here Virgo was along with several other maids ringing the bells like crazy into Lucy's ear

"It's time to get up princess. There's much to do before the ball tonight". Virgo said.

Lucy reluctantly sat up rubbing her eyes still daze at what was happening. "Mmm... okay". She said.

The maids grabbed Lucy and took her to the bathing quarters. A bath smelled of roses followed by a head massage as she got her hair washed. After getting massage for her legs, arms, back and face Lucy was finally more awake.

"Make sure her shoulders are nice and loose!" A maid said.
"Her face needs to be spotless, no pimples or pores in sight!" Another shouted.
"Where's her dress! I need the makeup set we decided on too!"
"Head to the princess room, we'll start on getting all the accessories and shoes to choose" Maids shouted from all around.

"Before we do her meditation cleansing ritual, let the princess eat a little something". Virgo said as she saw Lucy looking at the sandwiches on the table.

"She can't! We need to make sure she has no food that'll make her bloat!"  A maid said setting Lucy's dress on the hanger.

"Well that's a stupid rule" a voice said from the door.

"Sir Kyro! You shouldn't be here, the princess is in the middle of getting ready!" A maid shouted.

"There's 4 hours until the dinner with the important guests, which I hear highness isn't attending, but 6 hours until the ball actually starts. Isn't this a little excessive getting her highness ready so far in advance?" Sir Kyro asked.

The room fell silent. Every maid stopped moving and looked at Sir Kyro. They glared at him before a maid with brown hair, freckles and blue eyes walked up to him.

"Sir Kyro." She said smiling. "Since you are, well, you,  you'll never understand the importance of a ladies beauty. The time and effort it takes to make sure that a women can look her best in front of many other beautiful ladies and handsome men. A women's beauty is her life force, and for her highness it's most important that she looks absolutely gorgeous that all who attend will see that our precious princess is the most beautiful of them all".

Kyro looked at the maid with a confused look before saying, "I thought y'all just put on the weird goop stuff or whatever on your face and call it good".

The next second Kyro was hit with a hair brush. "Ow? You know it's not good if you hurt a royal knight right?" Kyro said rubbing is forehead.

"And you have no sense in true beauty". The maid said with a scary smile on her face. "Now good day to you". She pushes him out of the room.

"Wait I need to tell-" he was cut off with a door slam to his face.

"I swear. No man will ever understand". The maid said in an annoyed tone. "Anyway! I guess her highness can have one sandwich before we do anymore. What's the harm".

After Lucy had a nice yummy sandwich they continued getting her all ready for the ball.

Time skip
-the ball-

*knock knock* "is her highness ready? His Majesty and Lord Reno are waiting for her highness".

"Yes, her highness is ready". A maid said. The door slowly opening to reveal Lucy in a white blue dress with stars at the bottom. Her hair was in a braided bun.
