"... Are you listening?"

April snapped back to reality and looked up at Mr. Kim. "Huh?"

"Were you that entranced with that boy that you didn't even bother to listen to your manager?"

"No, no, of course not," April stammered and closed the yellow folder. She licked her lips and beamed up at him. "So when is the audition again?"

Mr. Kim just cocked his head to the side and frowned in confusion. "Is something wrong April?"

April just shook her head and finally gave a smile. "No it's nothing. This is great. I'll audition tomorrow." With a long lost look, April started to walk out of her office in such a daze. Mr. Kim frowned.

"Wait, April," he said. April stopped in her tracks and looked back at her manager. "Just letting you know, this audition will be different."

"How so?"

"You're not really auditioning to act," Mr. Kim answered. "It's more that you will be tested."

"Tested? On what?"

"On how you match well with your future husband."

April gave a frown and a confusion. "Alright," she said and walked off the office with the thought lingering in her mind. What did her manager meant by that?

April looked up at the large sign called 'BigHit Entertainment' and felt her heart pounding like crazy. She swallowed but her throat was dry. She pulled out her water bottle from her white purse she bought yesterday at a thrifts store in panic as she tried to quench her nervousness. Her knees started to shake and April closed her eyes.

It's going to be fine April, she told herself. He probably won't even recognize you.

April took a few more seconds to pull herself together, opened her eyes, and felt a new wave of confidence filling her back again. With a serious face she walked into the building.

The company's building was grand and new, the white fiberglass and wood panels cladded the exterior of this modern building. She heard the company moved to this new location due to the successes of their artists. She walked to the receptionist with a brazen confidence. The receptionist looked up at her with a stupefied look.

"I'm here for the audition for Seoul Mate," April said. The receptionist chewed on her gum and rolled her eyes at her.

"Go down the hall, take the elevator to the third floor and you'll see the sign that says auditions," she said monotonously. April wanted to give her a piece of her mind for her rudeness but decided it was inappropriate. Giving her a sarcastic thankful smile, she walked to the direction she was told.

The whole ride up was nerve-wrecking. April had never felt so nervous in her life. She had done so many auditions in her life that the many failures she obtained, the less anxious she became. But for some reason, today, April was tense. She closed her eyes and heard the elevator made a ding sound. Without paying attention, April walked out of the elevator and slammed against someone really hard she almost fell down.

April yelled in surprise. Her clumsiness got to her again. "Oh my god," April whispered in panic, wanting to curse herself. She noticed the person she bumped into had his back to her. Without looking at his face, April bowed down and apologized profusely.

"I am so sorry, I wasn't watching my step," April said and bowed again many times.

"Are you hurt?"

The voice was sweet sounding and April looked up to see a handsome young man. April's heart skipped a beat. He had dark black hair sleeked up to the side. His eyes were narrow and intense, almost taking her breath away. For that minute she couldn't breathe. It was as if the being in front of her made her lose track of reality.
