Chapter 16- getting to know the knight

It was a sunny day as always out in the castle garden. Lucy was waiting underneath a canopy along with the knight known as Reno. The two of them were sitting and enjoying lunch.

"So after your 4x great grandfather defeated beasts that were about to kill the former king at the time, and saved him, they bestowed land to him?"  Lucy asked.

"That's right. But it wasn't just because of that one time. My 4x great grandfather showed great loyalty and respect to the royals family, he won many battles for our country against other countries trying to invade ours. So that's how we got our own land. Though my family is still under  the royal family in terms of rules and regulations. The land we have is basically its own territory. We dont necessarily have to follow laws of the capital". Reno stated.

Lucy was still confused but understood what he was trying to say.
"That's impressive. No wonder your family is the top strongest family of knights". She says.

"Yeah". Reno says taking a bite of his sandwich.

It had been two days since his majesty had declared Lucy and Reno be together at the ball. Something Lucy couldn't refuse, though she wanted too.

-the night of the return-
Flashback

"Whyyyyyyyy I don't understand why I need an escort to the ballll can't I just go by myself?"  Lucy says plopping onto her bed whining.

"No you cannot princess". Kyro says standing by the door. "It's a must that you, especially you the honored one of the ball, must have an escort".

"Then why can't it be you or Hayden? Why does it have to be some guy I don't know?!"  She says rolling back and forth on her bed.

"Because we are but just knights from no where. Unlike Sir Reno who is captain of the first order and the heir to the land of Giana, basically a noble, he is better fit. It's also an order from his majesty". Kyro says.

"Ughhh what a painnnn. Fineee I guess I'll try to get to know this guy, if only for just the sole purpose of going to the ball with him". Lucy says.

Lucy decided that lunch in the garden would be best.
For one, there were guards basically everywhere. And two, if she needed to get away she could through the garden, which was basically a huge maze, which she knew every good hiding spot and escape root.
So if anything occurred she'd have a good escape route.

"I know that having me as your escort was a sudden thing, especially since you just got back". Reno says setting down his tea, "I too didn't know of the arrangement until my father came to me saying that he and the king decided that I was 'to escort her highness the princess to the ball'. Apparently it was my uncle who had put in the idea that it was a good idea though". Reno said.

"Oh, I see. Guess we were both surprised then". Lucy said.
Though Lucy was trying to be present, her mind was elsewhere. Her dreams that she'd been having. It happened again last night but she couldn't remember much. Every time she'd wake up the dream would slowly fade. No matter how hard she'd try to remember.

"Pardon me princess". Reno says.

Lucy looks over to see a hand coming right towards her face.
A hand presses against her forehead. She looks at Reno who is staring at her.

"You feel a bit feverish princess. Are you feeling okay?"  He asks.

Lucy looks at Reno in a daze.

"Princess?"  He says.

"What? Uh... oh!  Haha yes I'm fine. I've just been having sleepless nights lately I guess I'm feeling slightly tired. My apologies". Lucy says a little embarrassed.
