Through New Sight (Eyeless Jack x Reader)

~Ben's POV~

BAM!

Ben jolted in his seat from the distant, violent crash of the front door slamming against the wall. He hit pause on his game and placed his controller down before slowly approaching his own door. Cautiously, he slid it open and popped his head out into the hall. What the hell was that?

From across the hallway, Ben could see the three beaten-up figures of Toby, Hoody, and Masky. They trailed behind a rather angry-looking Slenderman. Though, "angry" was putting it a bit lightly.

Ben had never seen Slender look this pissed off before. The most Ben had ever witnessed-or caused-was strong annoyance at best, sprinkled with the occasional light threat to not repeat certain pranks again.

Although Slender tried to keep an air of sophistication by standing tall and upright, the wild, erratic movements of his tendrils behind him immediately gave away the rage simmering within.

Ben remained silent as he rubbernecked from the safety of his doorway. He knew by the way the proxies would occasionally flinch or look away that Slender was telepathically yelling at them as they stood in the main room.

At the height of his rage, many of his tendrils surrounded the three proxies with menacingly spear-like ends, as if he were threatening to skewer them. Then, just as quickly, he retracted his tendrils, straightened his tie, and left the proxies behind to go do whatever a Slenderman does. When enough time passed, they began bumbling their way towards the basement: Jack's old medical lab.

"Jeez, how much did they screw up to get Slender all riled up like that?" Ben muttered to himself.

"They probably let that chick get away," a low gravelly voice spoke from behind.

"Fucking hell!" Ben shouted as he jumped away with a turn, facing the white and black figure of Jeff, who leaned against the wall mere inches from Ben's room. Like he was cool or something.

"How long were you even there?!" Ben yelled at the rather nonchalant-looking psychopath that suddenly appeared before him.

Jeff shrugged with his hands in his hoodie. "Long enough to see you snooping from a coward's distance."

Ben scoffed. "Yeah, well, that was pretty intense and-wait. You know why Slender was that mad? Something about some chick? What chick?"

"Man, either you're clueless, or you're too stupid to notice anything happening outside the dumb games you play."

Ben crossed his arms and glared at Jeff. "Well, I'm sorry. If I wasn't so busy helping my friend who you fucked up, then maybe I'd have more damns to give of whatever's going on in this hellhole."

"Tch, whatever. Look, you're missing the point here," Jeff said as he pushed himself off the wall to face Ben more head-on.

"Which is?"

"That the girl Jack was seeing is actually still alive out there, dipshit."

Ben couldn't mask the surprise he felt. His arms fell to his side. "What? No . . . "

Ben's gaze shifted downward as he brought a hand up to his mouth in contemplation. There's no way, he thought with furrowed brows. I literally saw her dead body . . . Hell, I even made a promise to that dead body!

"Why would you even say that?" Ben felt his body stiffen and his chest puff up. Whatever sick game the bastard was playing, Ben wanted no part of it.
