Get ready to make your mark Wattpadders! We're excited to announce a new way to participate in The Wattys 2025: community voting! Your voice plays a vital role in celebrating the incredible talent within our community and helping us discover those truly exceptional stories. So, this year, you'll have a direct role in the process, highlighting the stories that resonate most with you.
Important Note: Voting is ONE part of the process when choosing our Winners.
We want to emphasize that while community voting is a fantastic way to engage with the entries, it is just ONE factor our judging team will consider when selecting the winners. The Wattys are designed to celebrate amazing storytelling and uncover hidden talent, not solely reward popularity. Our judges will also be evaluating entries based on other equally weighted criteria (all detailed in the next chapter).
How does community voting work?
On or around September 18th, we will release a public shortlist of approximately 100 stories in each of the four official Wattys languages. These entries will be divided into two categories: Romantic Journeys and Beyond Romance. Starting on September 22nd, you'll be able to cast your votes for your favourite stories! You're welcome to browse and vote on as many stories as you like, across all four languages. However, to ensure fairness, please note that only ONE vote per user will be counted per story.
Participating in Community Voting: A Step-by-Step Guide:
Accessing the Voting Platform: From September 22nd to September 28th, 2025 you will be able to access the Wattys Voting Page. NOTE: This page will be available when the voting period begins and we will link out to the page on this profile closer to this date. You need to be logged into your Wattpad account to vote.
Eligibility to Vote: All registered Wattpad users are eligible to participate in community voting. While our platform allows you to vote on individual chapters, our system will recognize all votes from a single account on a single story as one cumulative vote.
Finding Entries to Vote On: Once you're in the voting section, you'll find the shortlisted stories organized into the Romantic Journeys and Beyond Romance categories. Take your time to explore the diverse and captivating stories The Wattys has to offer!
The Voting Mechanism: To cast your vote for a story, simply click the star icon located on any chapter of that story. Once clicked, the icon's color will change, confirming that your vote has been successfully recorded for that story.

How We Ensure Fairness and Address Concerns:
To ensure the integrity of the community voting process and address potential concerns about manipulation we have implemented the following protocols:
One Account, One Vote Per Story: When we tally the "votes" for a story, we count all votes originating from the same Wattpad account as a single vote for that story. This means that even if you vote on multiple chapters of the same story, it will only be counted once.
Voting Period: Only votes cast between September 22nd, 2025 at 11:00:00 AM EDT and September 28th, 2025 at 11:59:59 PM EDT will be counted towards the community vote total. Any votes cast before or after this period will not be included.
Combating Suspicious Activity: We want to maintain a fair playing field, so our team will actively monitor for suspicious voting patterns, such as a disproportionately large number of votes coming from accounts with very little activity or accounts created shortly before the voting period that primarily vote for a single story.
Consequences of Manipulating Votes: Any accounts found to be involved in artificially inflating votes or engaging in other manipulative practices will be banned from the contest and their votes will not count. Additionally, any such accounts will be reported to our Trust and Safety team for their inspection.
Note that the number of votes visible on the platform will not be directly indicative of the number of votes cast during The Wattys voting period.
