The doctor had just stepped out after giving a list of instructions Leonardo had memorized before the man even finished speaking. From dosages to signs to watch for, he took it all in with the same intensity he used in business negotiations, because this was more important than any deal he’d ever signed.

Ariana was going home.

She was going home.

Now the room was alive with quiet movement. Marcus was double checking Aria’s things, making sure every prescribed medication was in place.

Kendric had already started stuffing snacks into his bag like they were going on a road trip, despite Marcus glaring at him and muttering something about hospital food not being souvenirs.

Domain stood near the door, arms crossed, quiet but watching.

Leonardo had stepped aside, speaking briefly with the nurse about Ariana’s schedule. They wanted her to rest as much as possible, avoid overstimulation, and take it slow.

Kendric didn’t hear a word of that part.

Luca moved quietly, saying little. He took the responsibility of packing Ariana’s blanket and favorite hoodie, the oversized one he’d brought her when the hospital air got too cold. He folded everything neatly, careful not to miss the little things she’d kept close.

When Ariana stood, blinking and swaying slightly, Luca was the one who held out the hoodie and helped her into it without a word. His touch was light, cautious. He didn’t speak, but he didn’t have to.

By the time they made it to the car, Ariana was already bundled up in the hoodie. She looked small in it.

Tired, yes, but calm.

Her hands were loosely tucked in the sleeves, and when Leonardo gently guided her toward the car, she didn’t flinch or freeze.

Just followed.

The car ride was a vibe, courtesy of Kendric, who had taken full control of the aux cord and was now blasting music that made everyone else in the car either laugh or groan.

“This is your ‘welcome home’ soundtrack, Ria!”

He declared dramatically from the back seat.

“Personally handcrafted to make you smile.”

Domain snorted.

“You mean personally designed to blow out her eardrums.”

Kendric ignored him.

“Song number two is my favorite! It’s called You’re Not Allowed to Be Sad Anymore Because You’re With Us!”

“That’s not even a real song.”

Luca muttered, but even he was smiling faintly as he glanced at Ariana.

She leaned her head sideways, resting her head on his shoulder.

He froze for just a second. Then his body relaxed.

He didn’t look at her. Didn’t speak. Just let her lean, like it was something he’d been waiting for her to do.
