"Thanks Aunt Hemmings."

"Perfect"

We lay beside each other as the music served as a background noise and filled the empty silence. He played with my hair, now laying messily across my forehead, and hummed gently along to the voices of bands I hadn't heard before.

"Have you heard this song before?" He turned to face me. I shook my head and listened as he said

"They're called 'Catfish and the Bottlemen' and they're amazing. Like, their lyrics are so clever if you actually listen and his voice is so calming and soothing but they're still upbeat and this song is probably my favourite." He huffed and faced the roof again as his eyes closed and softly sung the words.

"I got mislead, mistook, discard

Anything that I said

See I'm not the type to call you up drunk

But I got some lies to tell"

He seemed so relaxed now. He was usually so stressed or energetic that he never seemed to take a breath. But now he just let the worries of what he was going to have for dinner, when he was going to get his next paycheck and if he'd forgot to pay the water bills, go.

"Michael," my voice coming out hoarse from not using it. "From now on, can you please treat me how you would if I was a guy?"

"You are a guy." He smiled with his eyes still closed and fingers still in my hair.

"No i mean, don't call me Lucy, just Luke. And if I was to start doing something like, I don't know, hyperventilating over a cd in a window-"

"I do that."

"Please stop me. And stuff you do with your guy friends. Don't go easy on me in FIFA. Don't accidentally die in call of duty. Don't hardwir-"

"Okay I get it Luce." He shook his head and sat up. " I mean Luke, sorry. But I'm not going to treat you like a different person. You're still you. You're still my best friend."

Ouch.

Friend zoned.

I mean, I was friend zoned the day he came out of the closet but damn, I changed my species and he still doesn't like me. Wow I sound like such a grimy bitch. I'm sorry. It must have showed on my face that I was hurt because he asked what was wrong but I was saved from having to tell him when someone knocked on the door. Michael detangled his fingers from my hair and walked across the room to the door. Calum and Ashton stumbled in, looking like they had been leaning on the door.

"Hey Mikey! We got your message so what's u-who's the hot guy on Lucy's bed?" Ashton pointed at me. Crap. I gave him a small smile and a timid wave, saying hi to him and Calum. Calum walked in front of Ashton and crossed his arms with, what I think was supposed to be threatening? He eyed me up and down then said in a menacing voice,

"Who are you and why the fuck are you coming onto my man?"

I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing as the three of them stood there watching me roll around in hysterics. Through my tears I saw Calum ask Michael something to which he just shrugged and gave a little laugh.

"Okay what did I say? Are you saying that my boyfriend isn't good enough for you? Because I would rather you come onto him then- wait, no I don't! Just-"

"Babe let it go. I think he might be emotionally unstable." Ashton whispered the last part but I still heard which made me laugh even harder because, maybe I am. Michael shook my shoulder and i stopped laughing and sat up. I looked him straight in the face and he stared back. Then I started laughing again, succeeding in only falling off the bed.

"Okay that hurt." I sat up rubbing my head and sat back on the bed as Calum and Ashton slowly sat beside me. They both looked over my face for a few minutes before looking at each other then Ash slowly asked,

"Soo, who are you?" Shit.
