It was the day of the expedition. It was bright and early. I was in my room getting ready to go see his Majesty before leaving.   It was sunny today, warm and bright.

There was a knock on my door. "You may enter".  I said.

"I've come to escort you to see his majesty, princess". Kyro said bowing his head.

"Alright just give me a second to put this last thing in my bag".

The maids mostly did the packing but I also wanted to pack something, well more like a whole bunch of books.

"Okay all set! Let's go".

We headed to the audience chamber. I stood in front of the door big tall doors.

"Entering Her Highness Princess Lucy". A man from behind the door announced and the doors opened.

I walked down the long aisle and up the tiny set of stairs.

"Greetings Your Majesty". I curtsy.

"You almost ready to depart?" He asked.

"Yes. We will depart shortly. Our goal is to erase all the miasma that's destroying the east side of our country". I said as respectful and formal as I could.

"Good. The expedition should take a week and a half or so at most is that right? Well then. I hope you will succeed and return safely. Our country is in your hands". He said.

"Yes. Of course your majesty. We shall set off shortly".

"May your journey be safe and successful". He said.

I curtsied again and turned and left the hall.

"Oh thank god! Ugh that was hard!" I complained.

"You did well princess. Your studying has paid off in the sense of being able to speak formally". Kyro said.

"What a pain".

Speaking formally was one of the main things I had trouble with during lessons. Why does one have to speak so...boring. I hated it.

We made our way to the front of the castle. Wagons were being loaded and the soldiers were readying their horses.

Some of the mages who were not soldiers would ride in a carriage. They were healing and defense mages. Basically assisted mages.

I made my way to a carriage that looked like the size of a small house. "What the- it's huge!"

"Of course. It's the royal carriage". Virgo said popping out of nowhere.

"But- the poor horses!"

"It has magic imbued in it so it can shrink and transform into something smaller. So don't worry". Kyro said.

He held his hand out to help me get in the carriage.

"We will depart shortly. It'll take about a day to reach our first destination. We'll stop for lunch around 1 so until then relax and rest". Kyro said before leaving.

Once we departed and got out of the view of the castle I could see how big the castle truly was. I got a slight glance when I was in town but being further away it was big.

I stared out the window. Getting lost in thought. Thinking about this expedition and hoping that all the practice I put in was going to be useful. Terrified I'd fail and disappoint those who were counting on me.

I felt my eyes getting heavy and soon I fell asleep.

It's hot.
