I loved her. This was the first time I had thought those three words about Jessie.
"I love you." She said. I smiled,
"I love you too." Before I knew it, she was asleep. I closed my eyes and drifted off too.
When I woke the next day, it was Saturday. The fields were empty but I had many missed calls and texts from my dad. I replied,
Be home soon, father.
He replied,
You better.
I shook Jessie awake and kissed her on the lips. She wrapped her arms around my neck and then pulled away,
"I need to get home." I told her. She nodded and we drove to her house, I dropped her off and got home to a scolding.
"Where were you!?" Shauna shouted.
"At a friend's place." I couldn't let them know I was dating, they wouldn't approve.
"Whatever, we're just glad you're okay." Father said. I went to my room and studied my history textbook. When I checked the time, it was one at night. I headed to eat lunch before telling my parents I had study group. I reached Jessie's place and a thin blond woman answered the door politely,
"Hello, dear, are you here to see Jessie?" She said. I nod and she lets me in.
"She's just upstairs. Go all the way down the hall and turn right." Her brother, Xander, informed. I nodded and went in with a knock. Her room had wooden floors and pale turquoise walls. She turned off her music and grinned. I sat down on the floor beside her,
"Hey." She said.
"Hello." I reply. She rests her head on my shoulder and flips through her math flash cards. We answer questions together and end eventually. She yawns, tired from last night. I grin and yawn as well.
" I'm so tired." She admits. I smile and let her fall asleep. A knock at the door and I call them in. In steps Xander who had graduated high school two years ago but was going to start college later on. He grinned at me,
"Take care of her, don't break her heart." He said.
"I promise, I won't hurt her. I love your sister." I stroked her hair. He nodded,
"Good." And left, closing the door.
