A Little Too Late (AU)

AN:

- originally a Jpop fanfiction. I just tried. Lols. So this is an - AU | ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE - wherein our idols are all classmates in High School but they're all in the entertainment industry now, and they are having a reunion. (setting is like this because in Japan there are schools for idols and the idols I do follow are truly classmates and close friends during high school. XD)

- they are very OOC (Out of Character) here because I just changed the names, and basically these are the character/personality of my Jpop idols. Nadine, James and Devon are very close here, like childhood friends (because my idols were childhood friends). everyone is basically very close here as high school friends would be.

James' POV

I smiled as I looked around the room, happy and a little giddy. I haven't seen everyone together for a very, very, very long time.

It was like nothing changed. Like tomorrow we might be back at school for our classes.

Everyone was still the same. Looked a little older (just a little) maybe, but other than that...

Just as Donna started talking about her work in Paris, the door opened and everyone looked at it to see Devon coming through it.

In just three seconds, the room were filled with squeals as the girls stood up and rushed to Devonexchanging hugs.

The rest of us (the boys) also stood up and went closer to them at a slower pace. I think Kathryn is actually crying. I couldn't help but chuckle.

When finally the squealing died down, Devon turned to the boys and gave us a smile. She looked at me then came for a hug. I laugh as she squeezed. But she let go quickly and moved in to Nadine, who I realized was behind me.

Nadine didn't squeal but she looked very happy to see Devon. They hugged a lot longer than the others. They must really missed each other.

I remember how they were during our first year in high school. They had been friends since elementary. Me, I've been friends with Nadz since working with her on an MV and with Devon since working with her in a movie. It wasn't much unexpected that we three became closer when we became classmates. The three of us were inseparable. Others might think it's a bit weird that I'm closer to them than the boys, but it's true. They kinda remind me of my sisters so I was a bit drawn to them.

During those peaceful and stress-free (almost) days of my life, it's always been the three of us together.

But then, the scandal happened. All those exaggerated rumors spread and Devon had to leave school to avoid any more problems.

It isn't a big deal with me, or Devon or our friends to be seen together. We're friends; it's what was normal for us. But then again, I guess it's enough to sell a tabloid or something.

We tried to move on. Devon seemed to be fine in her new school, and it wasn't like the class stopped communicating with her. Nadine was particularly disappointed, but she understands more than well how it is to be in the entertainment industry.

Life went on, and even with Devon gone, Nadine and I still hang out. So the trio was reduced to a duo--with MJ joining us every now and then.

It was like nothing change for the duration of our first year in high school but then summer came and we didn't see each other for months (seeing her on television and me her doesn't count), and when the new school year came around, everything was just different.

She became a bit distant. She didn't talk to me much anymore. She stopped hanging out with me and instead go everywhere with Shy and Yassi in tow.

I never knew why. Devon seems to know (I called her and asked), but she didn't tell me.
