7. Final Selection: Part one

"Guess we four are stuck together, then..."

Toshiyo's POV
"Hey! Teaming up is cheating you know!" I say to the demon, fully aware of the fact that it simply doesn't care.

"So when demons team up, it's cheating, but when you kids team up, that's somehow acceptable?" The demon asked tauntingly. Maybe even mockingly. Who knows. I don't.

"Well, yes kind of. You demons and us kids are on different power levels right?" I made sure to emphasize on the 'kids' part, "We're merely kids with little to no experience while you demons live hundreds and even thousands of years gaining a lot of experience. So I think it's quite fair-" I barely managed to block the attack that came from behind. Damn, I shouldn't get carried away.

Ugh, fighting three demons at once is tough. Talking isn't my best option right now. What I need to do is decapitate them all at once...!

But how...?

Oh I know.

Using my 5th Form, I move in a zigzag, really fast but slow enough for the demons to be able to just follow my movements, thus confusing them. Then one by one, in three consecutive blows, I decapitate two off the demons. They were close by in front of me so it was easier to decapitate them together.

"Huh?" Both demons say in unison as they feel their head no longer connected to the rest of their bodies.

"Hah! Eat dirt!" Now I was the one mocking them.

Wasting no time, I use my 5th Form again and go towards the third demon behind me, who was confused as to what just happened.

"Breath of Snow, 5th Form, Snow Dragon."

Boom.

Decapitated.

With his body in three parts, "What-! Hey! How did you-!?"

"Do it so fast? It's a secret." I wink and put a finger up to my lips. "You're a Snow Breath user! The last time a Snow Breath user was here, my mother was killed! It was a boy tho-"

"Yeah yeah, nobody cares." Cutting off a demon rambling, felt amazing. But anyway, I sheathed my katana and left from there not sparing her a second glance as she kept sprouting even more nonsense.

It seems it'll be morning soon. She'll be gone before that. But more importantly, demons won't come out at daytime. That means I can rest a little...!

'I can finally rest after a while...!'

Just the thought of being asleep for a while was intriguing and definitely amazing! God, I wish morning comes quickly now!!

"Ryuusuke?!" I search for my friend, having been separated from him for some time now. Gosh where has he disappeared off to??

It's the 4th day of the test and I'm already separated from him! He said we'd stick together and now he dares disappear from my sight! I'm gonna butcher him when I find him again. Well, anyway I keep my legs moving and search for him. Demons aren't gonna wait for me to search for my friend now, are they?

'Man, these demons are so weak. Compared to my master's training, this is nothing!'

I did, in fact, go through a lot while training, so the final selection is pretty easy for me.

"Oop-" Damn, that demon attack caught me off gaurd. No big deal though. He comes in for another attack. He has great speed, I'll give him that, no more than that though, "You're gonna be my third one today!" It says, licking its lips like his meal is already Infront of him... I hate how pathetic he sounds.

"Uh, no I don't think so. I'm not dying here, no way. If I do, my master will kill me, so no chance." I say to the demon before finishing it off using the 4th Form of Snow Breathing, "Too bad mate." Shrugging it off, I keep searching...

'Isn't that Ryuusuke? ...Yes it is!'

"Ryuusu-! Huh??" As I was about to call out to him, I see that he's on the ground, seemingly unconscious.

Two other boys are near him. One is with him, gaurding him while the other is fighting a demon. Oh god, I hope he's alright.

Uff, that one is a large demon! Just how many people did he eat?

I quickly run upto him, "Breath of Snow, 3rd Form, Piercing Snow." With speed enough to outrun a cheetah, I sprint towards the demon from the back and go for it's neck. But right before I can decapitate him, he suddenly disappears, "Eh!? What the-"

So, he sensed me huh?

Then out of nowhere, as soon as I come to a stop, he's infront of me again, with his claws raised for an attack!

I narrowly dodged it. Then I figured, using my 2nd Form would be the best and quickest way right now, "Breath of Snow, 2nd Form, Snow Serpent's Coil!"

With the ugly demon being stiff and unble to move, I quickly go for his neck and this time, successfully decapitate him. Eh, I've faced stronger demons anyway.

I shrugged it off. Not a big deal, really.

"Eat dirt."

Turning my attention to the three guys infront of me, I quickly rush to check up on Ryuusuke. Gosh, it seems bad, "What the heck happened?"

One of the boys, specifically the one who was with Ryuusuke, speaks up, "I was having some trouble fighting this one demon who was extremely fast and so this guy came to save me." He said, nodding to Ryuusuke. "After that, we encountered the demon you just killed and he managed to injure him pretty bad. So I was gaurding him while Haru was defending us." He said pretty quickly, still a little shaken up.

I crouched down beside Ryuusuke, "It seems he hit his head pretty hard. Any signs he'll wake up soon...?"

Both of them shook their head. Great... What am I supposed to do now?? God.

"Guess we four are stuck together, then..." I said, having found no better option....

I wanna change their names. It's so bad. Also, I guess I will try to update daily because upto chapter nine, jt's just a re written version of the discontinued story. So ig you can expect regular updates for two/three more chapters.
