Now let the story begin.

In the morning at Hope's Peak Academy, [Y/N] [L/N] is accompanied by his classmates Kaede, Shuichi, and Miu as he heads to check on his girlfriend Kirumi Tojo.

[Y/N] : I'm getting worried guys. Kirumi should've been up by now.

Shuichi : Yeah, at this time she's usually in the kitchen making breakfast for everyone.

Miu : Kirumi better have a good excuse for why she isn't! I'm starving!

The Ultimate Inventor rudely exclaims, causing Kaede to shake her head.

Kaede : That's not the important thing right now Miu. Kirumi is our friend and we need to make sure she's alright, especially since we're all stuck in this killing game.

Miu : Whatever.

As the four approach Kirumi's room, they're surprised when the Ultimate Maid walks out looking incredibly feverish while chugging a can of soda.

Miu : There you are! Now you can finally get started on breakfast!

Letting out a loud burp, Kirumi tosses the empty can to the ground and scoffs at the Ultimate Inventor.

Kirumi : Go make your own breakfast. I'm done catering to all you ingrates.

Hearing this catches everyone off guard, but especially her boyfriend.

[Y/N] : B-babe, is everything ok?

Kirumi : Besides feeling a bit weak today, I'm fine. Why do you ask hotstuff?

[Y/N] : W-well, it's just that...you don't seem to be acting like your usual self.

Kirumi : Oh, you mean a workaholic people pleaser that gets zero respect? Yeah, I'm through with being a maid. In fact, I should be the one being waited on hand and foot.

Giving his girlfriend a concerned look, [Y/N] is about to say something before being interrupted by the sudden appearance of Monokuma, a black and white bear responsible for trapping everyone in the killing game.

Monokuma : Uh-oh [L/N] , it seems like your little girlfriend has caught the Despair Disease.

He says with a chuckle as everyone looks at him.

Shuichi : Despair Disease? So Kirumi is sick?

Miu : Duh! Disease is right there in the name Mr. Ultimate Detective!

Kaede : What exactly is this disease?

Monokuma : It's something I personally came up with to add a little spice to this killing game since there hasn't been much action lately. Basically, it gives the affected person a fever and makes them feel weak, but my favorite part of it is that it changes your personality to make it the opposite of what it is normally. In Kirumi's case she's become a rude lazy slob.

[Y/N] : You demented teddy bear! There better be a cure for this!

Monokuma : Relax [Y/N], she'll be back to her regular self again in due time. You just need to wait it out like you would a cold. Speaking of colds, the Despair Disease is highly contagious! Have fun with that kids!

With that, he disappears as [Y/N] grabs his girlfriend's hand and leads her back into her dorm room.

Kirumi : Hey, what's the big idea [Y/N]?!

[Y/N] : You're sick Kirumi, so I'm volunteering to take care of you until you get better, even if it means catching the Despair Disease myself.

Kirumi : Ok then, how about getting me another soda? Oh, and a bag of chips!

[Y/N] : Fine. Just stay in here babe.

He goes to leave, but is stopped by Kirumi.

Kirumi : One more thing. Consider this a thank you for being such an awesome boyfriend.

She suddenly pulls [Y/N] into a brief make out session, leaving him a blushing mess after they separate.

[Y/N] : Y-you know, maybe this whole Despair Disease situation isn't all that bad.

He says, making his girlfriend laugh before heading to the kitchen to get what she asked him.

Timeskip

It's been a few days since Kirumi caught the Despair Disease, and [Y/N] has been doing anything he can to help her recover, which mostly consists of laying in bed watching movies with her as they eat junk food and drink soda.

[Y/N] : You know, I thought this was gonna be a lot worse than it has been.

He tells his girlfriend while she rests her head on his shoulder.

Kirumi : To be honest with you babe, if not for my fever, I wouldn't really mind if I never got over this.

[Y/N] : As much as I've grown to like your new laid back personality, I know it's not the real you. I love you for who you really are Kirumi, and I've always appreciated the things you do for everybody.

He says as Kirumi smiles at him.

Kirumi : You're such a sweetheart [Y/N], which is the reason I fell for you in the first place. My normal self would never admit this due to thinking it's selfish or something like that, but if you and I ever make it out of this stupid killing game, I'd ask that you always be a part of my life.

Blushing a little, [Y/N] returns his girlfriend's smile and gives her a peck on the cheek.

[Y/N] : I'd like that a lot Kirumi. I love you, Despair Disease or otherwise.

Kirumi : I love you too [Y/N].

Getting tired, the two fall asleep while embracing each other, the fever on the Ultimate Maid's face fading away as she sleeps soundly next to her boyfriend.

About an hour and a half later, a now Despair Disease free Kirumi wakes up and smiles lovingly at a still sleeping [Y/N], somehow remembering him being there for her while she was sick.

Kirumi : Thank you dear. I'll be sure to return the favor if you caught it as well.

She kissing him softly before getting up to clean the mess of chips and soda cans she made while affected by the Despair Disease.
