|Chapter 19| The Day of Sun

Steve Language: Standard Galactic (This is talked the entire time, so also just our language. I am not writing this entire book in Standard Galactic XD)

Sabre

Knock, Knock. I nearly fell off my chair as I heard it. I jolted out of my sleep. I looked at my desk covered in the notebooks of my notes. I was making so much progress into translating Comet's words. I was working through each symbol and translating it between three different languages all at once. Maybe at the end of this... I can find out where she might be. If she is still out there.

I know just reading through her journal all the way would be easier, but I worry that I will become too busy to remember to do it later. Especially with how tensions in the Rainbow Kingdom have only seemed to grow higher.

Knock knock knock.

"Coming! I just woke up!" I groaned before getting out of my chair. I get dressed up into some cleaner clothes, one that will suit the hotter weather. It does mean keeping my jacket off. I shrugged it off before rushing down the stairs and opening the door. I was surprised to find myself standing in front of the Yellow Leader. He looked wide awake and energized compared to me.

"Sabre, Good morning!" He offers a warm smile. "Though you might want to get that darkness off your face." He jokes and points to my cheek. I sighed.

"I have ink on my face don't I?"

"Yes, yes you do." I opened the door for him to step inside.

"I'll clean up my face, thanks for telling me, leader." I walked into my kitchen looking for a small rag to clean my face off with.

"Thank you, sorry for waking you up so early, but it is custom for today." He explained to me as I picked a rag out of my drawers, I rubbed it against my face softly, running it under water to slowly clear off the black ink.

"Right! I nearly forgot today is the Day of Sun. Thanks for the reminder." After a while my face was cleared, I turned my head to look at him. "Better?"

"Much better. Did you sign up for any of the events beforehand? I wanted to see if we got an event together." The excitement that seemed to follow him felt refreshing, especially with all the pressure that has been on him and the other leaders.

"Just two, the first one was the most popular- I'm surprised I managed to get in at all! The sword competition. The other one was the rope climb event." They both seemed fun, and there weren't many who applied to that event.

"I'll see you in the sword competition, don't get out too quickly though, I want to face you head on." He smirks.

"We will see, did you come to visit me this morning just for this?" I reached up to the cupboard above me grabbing some bread to munch on.

"It's required for all of us to check over all the events, I wanted to make sure you were awake for it. Especially since you were unwell that last meeting." I took a small bite of the bread.

"How many events are there again?"

"Quite a few, we like to mess around and find new ones every year. As long as a few steves are interested, then we will host it. There are some minor prizes, but the main aspect of the day is to find connection within our strengths, to release energy and try new things." He sits down in the chair next to my small table. This... kind of reminds me of the Olympics.
