After I walked back inside, I summoned my purple knife that hade been costume made for me by the Shadows as a gift. I hade to search for purple crystals for the blade while the Shadows made the hilt.
The knife symbolizes teamwork, the purple color represents Shadows River and the part where the blade connects with the hilt symbolizes how close the Shadows are with their Queen.
My name is written on top of the hilt as symbol for the current queen and Laura, my mother, is written under the hilt as symbol for the late queen.
It's so the current Queen always has a piece of her mother with her with her. The best part is that no one can make a copy or steal it because it disappears immediately back in the nearest shadow or we swipe our hand over it and it disappears back in the shadows.

The history of how there are only Queens as rulers is easy. My great grandma Lina Stacia, was chosen by the Shadows to rescue the dhampir's in her village from abusive people and she succeeded.
Since she was human she retired at the age 60 and chose her daughter Luna Stacia, who was also human worked in the military at the age of 23 as soldier and worked hard to climb the ladder to a lieutenant general. The first woman lieutenant general the word has ever seen.
At 18, turned, marked and mated, she had 1 child and got pregnant 2 more times before she joined the army. She was a strict mother and Laura, who was the first born was to take over the position so she left a letter to her husband Mike, a vampire, to train her at the age of 15 in combat.
Till then she had to take a sport that keeps the body strong and train in the gym or run circles in the yard for one hour.
Her other 2 son's also did this training and they became husbands of female vampires. Yes vampires where even in the time when my great great great grandma was alive, but we tried to ignore them as best as possible unless you where mated to them which never happens in our family till Luna.
