Chapter 9- i miss you

In a room of darkness a dragon lays silent. He doesn't move, doesn't talk just sits and stares at a picture of her, the girl who he once promised to protect.

Happy the cat sits next to his friend in the dark room of her apartment.

The both haven't left the apartment in over a month. Not since the day natsu woke up and came here.

Happy pov-

Natsu hasn't left Lucy's apartment since he came to, two days after bringing him back from finding Lucy.

He just sits beside her bed, a picture of her in his lap.

I'm worried. He hasn't eaten. Hasn't spoke. Hasn't moved.

The day he awoke was the day he changed. He wandered around aimlessly for hours until he ended up here. Since then he hasn't left.

When the others try to come here he burns them. He scare them away. He doesn't allow anyone but me in her apartment, not even near it.

I've never seen him like this. Even when Lisanna or Igneel died he wasn't like this. He didn't shut himself away and try to hurt those around him.

I look over at him. His head is down and his finger traces the picture. He sits across from me. Natsu barely sleeps. And when he does he has nightmares. I hear him mumble things and sweats and cries in his sleep.

Slowly I've been talking to him. I can't tell if he listens or not but he doesn't try to fry me like fish so I think it's okay.

"Hey Natsu?" I say hesitantly. "How about I open some of the curtains for you? You haven't seen much light in a long time... I think it'll do you some good".

I get no response from him.

I fly over to the curtains. I open them a tad. It's bright outside. The light shines through. I turn around to see another light reflecting off from something under some papers.

I fly over to see what it is.

It's a picture of Lucy, Natsu and I. Natsu is holding me in one arm and has his other one around Lucy's shoulders. Her hand is on his.

I didn't know she had this picture. Didn't know someone even took it. I grab it and fly over to Natsu.

"Hey Natsu, look... it's us". I show him the picture I'm holding.

For the first time in so long he looks up.

"L... Lu.... Lucy..." he mumbles ever so slightly. It's the first time in so long I've heard his voice.

"Aye, is Lucy. She had this picture of the three of us". I say.

He reaches his hand out and grabs the picture. "Lucy". He says again. "Lucy".

I don't know what to say. All I know his that this is the first times he's said or moved since so long. I can see a tear go down his cheek.

"No matter what". I hear him mumble.

"Natsu?"  I ask hesitantly.
