Chapter 6

"So, Jungkook hyung, how's your solo practice going?" Minsoo asked, his tone dripping with insincerity.

Jungkook's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "It's going well, thanks for asking," he replied, his voice neutral.

Taehyung's hand brushed against Jungkook's, a subtle gesture of support. Jungkook's heart fluttered, and he felt a sense of gratitude towards Taehyung.

As they arrived at the company, Jungkook felt a sense of relief wash over him. He was eager to focus on his music and push aside the unease that Minsoo's presence brought.

As they arrived at the company, the members poured out of the cars and made their way to the studio. Hoseok, who had been quiet until now, suddenly took charge. "Alright, everyone! Let's get into position. We've got a lot to work on today."

He turned to Minsoo and Y/N. "You two can sit down and watch from the side."

Minsoo nodded, his expression neutral, while Y/N smiled and took a seat, pulling out her phone to take some notes. Jimin, meanwhile, headed towards the sound booth.

"Let's start with 'ON'," Hoseok said, his voice firm. "Jimin, can you play the track?"

Jimin nodded and pressed play. The opening beats of "ON" filled the studio, and the members took their positions, ready to start practicing. Jungkook's eyes met Taehyung's, and they exchanged a brief nod before focusing on the task at hand.

The music began, and the members launched into the choreography. Everyone were slaying their parts.

As the song reached its climax, Jungkook's high notes kicked in, and he began to sing with intensity. The members danced in perfect sync, their movements fluid and precise. When the last break dance segment approached, Jungkook's voice soared.

Jimin yelled "JAYKAYYY!" as Jungkook dropped into a low stance, his voice belting out the lyrics. Y/N squealed "ANGELIC OH MY GOD!" as she watched, her eyes shining with excitement.

The other members watched Jungkook with pride, their faces beaming with admiration. Minsoo, however, visibly cursed underneath his breath, his expression darkening. He whispered to himself, "There they go again..."

As the music faded, the members came to a stop, their chests heaving with exertion. Jungkook grinned, feeling exhilarated from the performance. Taehyung caught his eye, and they exchanged a warm smile, the chemistry between them palpable.

Hoseok nodded, a satisfied smile on his face. "Good job, everyone. Let's take a short break and then we'll run through it again."

The members nodded, chatting and laughing as they took a break. Jungkook walked over to Y/N, grinning from ear to ear. "What did you think?" he asked, his eyes shining with excitement.

Y/N's expression turned serious, and she leaned in close to Jungkook. "I don't trust Minsoo," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise, and he glanced over at Minsoo, who was standing across the room, his eyes fixed on them with an intensity that made Jungkook's skin crawl.

Y/N's words brought back memories of their late-night conversation. Jungkook had called her at midnight, his voice laced with worry and uncertainty. He had told her about the newcomer, Minsoo, and how he seemed off. Y/N had immediately sensed her friend's unease and had stayed up late, worrying about Jungkook's well-being.
