I've come to accept that I will most likely be writing this fic into my twenties 🫡.
Today's fanart was submitted by elena on Quotev and it's a very cute drawing of our (Y/N)! Thank you for submitting it!

For the last three hours, the only thing you felt was Bearnice's soft fur rippling under you as she walked and Sora's sharp claws digging into your shoulder. The sun was beating down on you and you were sweating profusely but every time you sat up for a break, the kakushi that was guiding you forced your head down again, and then Sabito would chuckle at your misfortune.
"I'm wearing a blindfold though," You complained for the third time, but this was a different kakushi so it was basically your first complaint.
"Just, um, to be safe," The kakushi responded.
It's been like this since you met the first kakushi at the foot of Urokodaki's mountain. It was early in the morning with the signs of dawn barely approaching. You could barely make out the kakushi with their dark uniform blending into the shadows of the trees so when they cleared their throat, you jumped and accidentally bumped into Bearnice.
"H-hi," You stammered out once you calmed down.
"Hello there." When she spoke, you realized it was a woman with really pretty eyes. "I will be your guide to the village since you were invited by the Masamune family"
At her words, you narrowed your eyes. The way she spoke was vaguely familiar, like you'd seen someone talk like that but you couldn't recognize her voice.
Ah, well, maybe she popped up in the manga at some point or something.
"Nice to meet you! How will you guide me?"
She pulled out a cloth from her pocket and held it out to you. "Here. This is a blindfold that you need to put on. The village is hidden so I'll carry you on my back."
Okay, Pretty-eyed lady.
Before you found yourself lost in the pretty eyes, you tried to put the blindfold on but Bearnice didn't like that you were covering your eyes (probably because as a bear, her eyesight is very important so she thought you were crazy for covering your own eyes). She bit your hand a total of three times before you finally gave up.
"Just sit on the bear," Was Sabito's very helpful suggestion and the method you ended up choosing because you'd rather not have your hand punctured by your friendly neighborhood bear.
Also, it seemed that the first kakushi mentioned that Bearnice had a penchant for biting hands so all the other kakushi now walked holding their hands in front of them so Bearnice couldn't reach them. They also seemed to think that the less range of movement you had, the less range of movement Bearnice would have, hence why you had to keep your head down even when you were blindfolded.
Other than that, the journey was pretty smooth. Most of the kakushi weren't very talkative, but there was one guy who kept rambling about the specific type of ramen his city made and why it was so different from the other ones you'd get in other cities.
"The broth we use is salt-based while most other types that use miso-based, soy-based, or animal bone-based broths. I've mostly eaten pork bone broths but I've heard of some making duck and chicken broths as well. Anyway, because it's salt-based, the broth is much clearer and lighter. We also use straighter and thinner noodles and that's one of the main ways you can tell the difference between our rarmen and the others in our city. My family keeps it light by only adding kelp and pork, but my friend's family adds all sorts of vegetables and meats to theirs."
