A collision of fate

The night was dark, silent, and endless—just like her life.

Y/N sat on the temple steps, staring at the flickering diya (oil lamp) in front of Shiv-Parvati’s idol. The wind was cold, sending shivers down her fragile body, but she remained motionless, lost in her thoughts. This temple was the only place where she could breathe freely, away from the suffocating walls of the Singh Kumar mansion.

The city was asleep, unaware of her presence. But someone was watching.

From the shadows of a black SUV parked near the temple’s entrance, a pair of sharp, calculating eyes observed her every move. Jeon Jungkook Rajput leaned against the car, his arms crossed, a cigarette between his fingers. He didn’t smoke, but sometimes, he held one just to keep his hands occupied.

“She’s alone,” Taehyung muttered beside him. “What is she doing here at this hour?”

Jungkook didn’t answer. He had seen her before—this girl who moved like a ghost, who never spoke more than necessary, who looked at the world as if she didn’t belong to it. He wasn’t the kind of man who paid attention to things that didn’t concern him, but something about her felt… unnatural.

“Should we leave?” Jimin asked, checking his watch. “It’s getting late.”

Jungkook exhaled slowly, his gaze still fixed on Y/N. “Not yet.”

A few minutes passed, and Y/N finally stood up. She adjusted her simple dupatta over her head and turned to leave. That’s when everything changed.

A sudden screech of tires cut through the silence, and a black car sped toward her. The headlights blinded her, and she froze, her body refusing to move.

Jungkook’s eyes darkened.

“Move,” Taehyung whispered under his breath, as if she could hear him.

But she didn’t.

The car didn’t slow down. In that split second, before anyone could react, Jungkook was already moving.

The world blurred around him as he sprinted toward her, his instincts kicking in before logic. His strong arms wrapped around her waist, yanking her out of the car’s path just as it rushed past, missing her by inches. The impact of the movement made her gasp, and before she knew it, she was pressed against a solid chest, her feet barely touching the ground.

Silence.

Y/N’s heart pounded in her ears as she slowly lifted her eyes. The face that stared down at her was like a sculpted masterpiece—sharp jawline, piercing dark eyes, and an unreadable expression.

She didn’t know who he was.

He had just saved her life.

And in that moment, Jeon Jungkook Rajput knew—this girl was about to turn his world upside down.

For a few breathless moments, neither of them moved.

Y/N's trembling hands clutched the fabric of his black kurta as she tried to steady herself. The scent of sandalwood and something dangerously intoxicating surrounded her, making her mind foggy. Her breath was uneven, her heart drumming violently against her ribcage.

Jungkook held her firmly, his grip around her waist unyielding. His body was tense, his jaw clenched as he stared at the retreating car. Whoever had been behind the wheel wasn’t just some reckless driver—it was a warning.

“You should be more careful,” he murmured, his voice deep, controlled.

Y/N blinked up at him, still dazed. His touch was warm, almost burning through the coldness that had settled in her bones long ago. She didn’t know this man, and yet, in this moment, she felt… safe.

“Who—” her voice was barely above a whisper, but before she could ask, he let go.

She stumbled slightly, the sudden loss of warmth making her feel strangely hollow. Jungkook took a step back, his sharp eyes scanning her face for any sign of injury.

“She’s fine,” Jimin’s voice came from behind, breaking the moment. “That was too close.”

Taehyung clicked his tongue in irritation, his gaze dark. “That wasn’t an accident. Someone wanted her gone.”

Jungkook didn’t reply, but the muscle ticking in his jaw told them everything. He looked at Y/N again, this time with more intensity. There was something about her—something fragile, yet unbreakable.

“Who are you?” Y/N finally found her voice, though it still trembled slightly.

Jungkook smirked, the hint of amusement not quite reaching his eyes. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

Before she could say anything, he turned on his heel and walked back toward his SUV. Jimin and Taehyung followed, though they both cast curious glances at her before getting in. The car roared to life, its headlights illuminating her for a second before disappearing into the night.

Y/N stood there, her fingers still curled as if holding onto something that was no longer there. The wind blew past her, whispering secrets she didn’t understand.

Who was he? And why did it feel like fate had just set something in motion—something unstoppable?

She shivered, not from the cold, but from the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she wasn’t ready for.

Meanwhile…

Inside the moving SUV, Jungkook’s fingers tapped against his thigh rhythmically. His thoughts were elsewhere, replaying the moment over and over.

“Are you going to look into it?” Jimin asked from the passenger seat.

“I already know who she is,” Jungkook replied, his voice unreadable.

Taehyung raised a brow. “Then what are you going to do about it?”

Jungkook exhaled, his fingers tightening slightly.

“Nothing… for now.”

But deep down, he knew.

This was just the beginning.
