Raymond Jr.'s POV, 4 years before On The Ropes (some months before Montgomery Christmas)
I'm not above admitting that I've always been a 'trick.' I'm a country boy, I was raised with that southern hospitality in my blood. My mama always taught me that if I care for somebody, I have to show that in whatever way makes the most sense to me—And for me, taking care of someone through acts of service is how I show my love. It was how I showed my mama that I loved her when I struggled to say the words. It's how I showed my father that I loved him when he struggled to say the words. It's how I show my hard headed ass brothers that I love them.
It's how I show the love of my life that I love and care for him.
Ever since I got with Red, I've been working overtime to prove my love for him—Not because he thinks I don't love him or because he doubts me in any way... But because he's never been loved before.
He hasn't outright said those words to me. He hasn't told me what he's never experienced before—But he doesn't need to tell me that he's never been taken on a date before, I can see it in the way he reacts when I tell him we're going out. He doesn't need to tell me that he's never been shown off in a relationship before, I can see it in the way he hesitates to grab my hand when we're out in public. He doesn't need to tell me he isn't used to non-sexual intimacy in a relationship, I can see it in the way his entire face turns red when I just want to rub and kiss on him without wanting to fuck him.
