It had been two weeks since their wedding, and the newness of their life together still felt like a dream to Wei Wuxian. She had adjusted to being Lan Ying, fully embracing her role as a wife and a mother to little Lan Suying. But just as things seemed to settle into a quiet, routine happiness, another surprise was waiting for her.

One morning, as the sun filtered through the window, casting soft light across their room, Wei Wuxian sat at the edge of the bed, her hand resting on her stomach. She had been feeling different lately—dizziness, a strange wave of nausea, and an odd sensation in her body that she couldn’t quite explain.

Lan Wangji was still asleep beside her, his hand gently resting on the pillow next to her, his breathing steady and calm. She watched him for a moment, her heart swelling with affection, before she quietly slipped out of bed and went to fetch a small vial she had hidden away.

She had a suspicion, but she didn’t want to jump to conclusions—so she decided to confirm it first.

A few moments later, she returned to the room, holding the small vial in her hand, the contents of which would give her the answer she needed. Her heart raced as she sat back down beside Lan Wangji, gently nudging him awake.

— Lan Zhan… she whispered softly, brushing a lock of his hair away from his face.

Lan Wangji stirred, blinking as he opened his eyes, his gaze immediately landing on her.

— Wei Ying? he murmured sleepily.

— I think… she hesitated for a moment, her heart racing with both excitement and a little fear. I think I’m pregnant again.

Lan Wangji’s eyes widened, his expression shifting from sleepy concern to one of surprise. He sat up slowly, his hand reaching for hers instinctively.

— Pregnant? he repeated, his voice thick with disbelief but also a softness she could feel.

Wei Wuxian nodded, her fingers trembling slightly as she showed him the vial.

— I’ve been feeling strange these last few days… I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure, she explained.

Lan Wangji took the vial from her hand, his eyes scanning it carefully before he turned to look at her again. His gaze softened, his emotions clear in the depth of his eyes.

— Wei Ying… he murmured, his voice gentle but filled with a quiet joy. If you are, this is… a gift.

Wei Wuxian smiled, but there was a trace of uncertainty in her expression as she looked at him.

— I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. We already have Suying, and—

— You are not alone in this, Lan Wangji interrupted, his voice steady but warm. He gently cupped her face with his hand. We will face it together, as we always do.

Wei Wuxian met his gaze, her heart swelling with love and gratitude.

— You’re right, she whispered, a small smile curving her lips. We’re a family. We can do anything, as long as we’re together.

Lan Wangji pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, his thumb brushing over her cheek.

— Yes, he agreed softly. Together.

And in that moment, with the uncertainty of the future ahead, they both knew that whatever came their way, they would face it as they always had—united in love and strength.
