Chapter One

The favourite food of us all, the pizza, if it's properly baked and has all the right toppings on it, the average pizza has over one thousand calories. The American cookies we all love very much, one of them roughly has three hundred calories. If we drink the 3 litres we're supposed to drink of water of something else, like one of America's favourite sodas, that calculates up to a over half the calories you're supposed to consume during the day. And don't even get me started on birthday cake...

When you go for a run that takes about an hour, that doesn't mean you lose weight if you continue to eat normally, no, it means that you may be able to stay on what you currently weigh. Riding your bike, swimming, all of those things that we can all get ourselves to do when we manage to get up for sports, I looked it all up and they burn barely anything at all which is what most people want, right? So that means, if you want to be skinny, you can never treat yourself anymore without losing motivation? That's bullshit, if you ask me and I'm not afraid to say it.

Of course, I'm aware of the fact that a lot of people have a great metabolism and that people do sports because they want to be healthy and fit. But let's be real, a lot of us really enjoy pizza and a good tv-show and all the activities that don't burn a lot of calories or give you a lot of strengh. And I'm not even talking about being a couch potato but also riding rollercoasters or going on city trips, that's not being lazy but it's also not being fit.

I, for one, don't care about any of that. You're entitled to your own opinion about weight and beauty and health and fitness but mine is this: everybody can do what they want to and they should not be called out on it unless it's dangerous and even then, if you can't help them, it's their own problem. And I'm not saying do what I do because it sure as hell is not healthy but also nobody's business. But don't blame people who don't work out for reasons like not trying or not caring or not being informed.

Because I'm well informed and I know that I am way happier when I eat and have fun the way I want to than when I starve myself and torture myself to run, I can only do that when I'm in the mood.

You don't need to be skinny and fit to be happy and it doesn't mean that when you have that, you have a better life. You're just like everybody else, no matter what your eating habits and your fitness app look like.

And I understand that feeling that a lot of people doing sports crave, just that your body is weak and that you have done something and the power comes to you because you've accomplished something. I just believe that the feeling of pizza in your mouth is a lot more satisfying and there's nothing wrong with that.

Because, to get the obvious out of the way, my name is Bev Nicholls and I'm completely happy with my life, my body is not holding me back from anything. And I'm not having less of a good life because of the fact that I weigh 260Ibs.
