Chapter 2 : Beginning

The screen behind her flickered to life.

In bold white letters, it read:

"You are going to react to a modern WangXian Omegaverse AU."

Silence.

Longer silence.

Wei Wuxian snorted. "Sounds scandalous. I love it already."

Lan Wangji tilted his head slightly.

But the rest?

Absolute, collective confusion.

"What in the heavens is an 'Omegaverse'?!" Nie Mingjue demanded.

Jiang Cheng's eye twitched. "I don't like the sound of that."

Madam Yu narrowed her eyes. "Is this some nonsense Wei Wuxian created?"

Ruby snickered. "Oh, trust me, no. But it's gonna be fun watching you all figure it out."

Lan Qiren cleared his throat, looking thoroughly displeased. "If this is anything improper—"

"Oh, it's very improper." Ruby cut in, smirking. "But don't worry, I'll explain it simply."

She gestured for everyone to sit. Some obeyed (Lan Xichen, Jiang Yanli, the juniors), while others (Jin Guangshan, Jin Zixun, Wen Xu) stood stiffly, looking like they just smelled something rotten.

Ruby clapped her hands. "Alright, so! The Omegaverse is a world where people are divided into Alphas, Betas, and Omegas—"

Jin Zixun snorted. "This already sounds stupid."

Ruby kicked a random teacup at his head. "Shut up, I'm talking."

Jin Zixun: [insert suffering noises]

Ignoring him, Ruby continued. "Alphas are the dominant ones, Betas are like normal people, and Omegas are—well, let's just say they have special circumstances."

Wei Wuxian wiggled his eyebrows. "Oh~? Special how?"

Lan Wangji placed a hand on his forehead. "Wei Ying."

Ruby grinned. "Oh, you see. They are bottoms-"

Jin Guangshan (filthy bastard) let out a sly chuckle. "I see. A world of submission and dominance? Now that sounds—"

CRACK!

Madam Yu's whip smacked across the table. "Finish that sentence, Jin Guangshan. I dare you."

Jin Guangshan: [sweats nervously]

Lan Xichen, ever the optimist, clapped his hands together. "Well! This sounds interesting. Wangji, you and Wei Wuxian are together in this AU, correct?"

Lan Wangji nodded. "Mn."

Nie Huaisang gasped dramatically. "Aiya! A WangXian story? Gege we must watch carefully!"

Nie Mingjue rolled his eyes. "As long as it isn't ridiculous."

Ruby smirked. "Oh, it is ridiculous. But that's what makes it fun."

She turned toward the screen, eyes gleaming. "Let's meet the AU characters, shall we?"

With a snap of her fingers—the reaction officially began.

The screen flickered, casting an eerie glow over the cultivators.

The words "Modern WangXian Omegaverse AU" still loomed over them .

"WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE HEAVENS IS THIS?!" Sect Leader Yao's voice shot through the air like a badly aimed sword.

Ouyang Zhi (the Ouyang sect leader) crossed his arms. "A world where people submit to others based on status? Ridiculous!"
