Chapter 8: Trouble Comes in Twos

Sanya thought having Rudra as her personal assistant would be the highlight of her victory.

She was wrong.

Because Rudra Malhotra was enjoying this way too much.

---

Day One: The Assistant Who Wouldn’t Obey

"Carry my books," Sanya ordered, thrusting a stack of textbooks at him.

Rudra took them easily, glancing down. "Damn, Verma. You planning to build muscles with these?"

"Just do your job."

But instead of carrying them, he tossed one book up and caught it, like it was a football.

Sanya grabbed it back, scowling. "You're supposed to assist me, not mess around."

Rudra smirked. "You should've been more specific."

Her fingers itched to throw the book at his head.

And that was just the first day.

---

Day Three: The Cafeteria Incident

"Get me lunch," Sanya said, tapping her fingers on the cafeteria table.

Rudra raised an eyebrow. "Sure. Any special requests, princess?"

Sanya sighed. "Just get something edible."

Minutes later, he returned.

With a single samosa.

"That’s it?" she asked, unimpressed.

He shrugged. "You didn’t specify how much."

"Rudra—"

"Hey, at least I’m following your orders, unlike someone."

Sanya narrowed her eyes. Oh, he was playing dirty now.

"Fine," she said sweetly. "Then I order you to—"

Before she could finish, he popped a piece of her samosa into his mouth.

Oh. Hell. No.

"Rudra Malhotra!"

But he just grinned, chewing slowly. "You should’ve been more specific."

Day Five: The Moment She Didn’t Expect

Sanya was beyond done.

She was supposed to be making Rudra suffer.

Instead, he was turning everything into a game.

So that night, she stayed back in the library, determined to finish her assignments in peace—without Rudra’s annoying presence.

Or so she thought.

Because just as she stretched after two hours of studying, a shadow fell over her table.

She looked up.

And there he was.

Rudra Malhotra, leaning against the bookshelf, arms crossed. Watching her.

Sanya frowned. "What are you doing here?"

"You didn’t tell me I was off duty."

Her heart did a weird flip. "I… You—That’s not how this works!"

He smirked, stepping closer. "You said I have to help you. So, here I am."

Sanya huffed. "You don’t even know what I’m working on."

Rudra pulled out a chair and sat down. "Try me."

Sanya stared at him.

And for the first time, she didn’t have a comeback.

Because for the first time… he wasn’t teasing.

He was just sitting there, watching her.

Like he meant it.

Like he actually wanted to be there.

Her fingers curled around her pen.

And for reasons she didn’t understand, she felt like she was the one losing this battle.
