Ye Ruyan stood in front of a large building and turned to the group. "Everyone, this is the inn I arranged for our stay." she said. "It's the best one in the capital."

Little Snake stuffed his mouth with cakes and mumbled, "Must be the best for schemes."

The Dragon King chuckled and pulled Little Snake to his side. Gently, he wiped some paste off the corner of his mouth. Lilun scoffed at the sight.

Little Snake turned to him and glared. "Are you jealous because we have someone, and you're all alone without your Yun ga?" he teased.

Lilun rolled his eyes. "Why would I be jealous of you?" he said, looking away in annoyance.

Ye Ruyan had come to the mortal world with the Dragon King, Little Snake, Lilun, and Mo Yun. However, Ye Yun couldn't join them because he had important matters to discuss with the ministers.

Lilun had refused to come at first, not wanting to be away from Ye Yun. But since Ye Ruyan was traveling alone, and the Dragon King and Little Snake would likely be lost in their own world, Ye Yun had asked Lilun to go along to keep her safe.

The streets of the capital were alive with color and excitement as the group made their way toward the lantern festival. The scent of roasted chestnuts and sweet pastries filled the air, mingling with the faint fragrance of incense drifting from nearby temples.

Lanterns of every shape and size swayed above them, casting a warm, golden glow over the lively crowd. Some were simple paper lanterns painted with delicate flowers, while others were elaborate, crafted into the shapes of mythical beasts, dragons, phoenixes, and qilin, their eyes glinting like they held real fire within them.

Ye Ruyan glanced around, satisfied. "The lantern festival in the capital never disappoints." she said. "It's even grander this time."

Little Snake, still chewing on a pastry, tugged at the Dragon King's sleeve. "Look, They have sugar sculptures!" He pointed to a vendor skillfully shaping molten sugar into intricate animals. "Let's get one?"

The Dragon King chuckled. "You just ate so many cakes, and now you want more sweets?"

Little Snake huffed. "Sugar sculptures aren't for eating, they're for looking. Well... mostly."

Lilun, walking slightly behind the group, eyed a couple passing by, a young man adjusting the silk ribbon on his companion's lantern with a soft smile. His fingers twitched at his side before he scoffed and looked away.

Ye Ruyan caught the movement and smirked. "Lilun ge, do you want a lantern for my brother?" she teased.

Lilun shot her a glare. "Why would I? He's not even here."

"That doesn't mean you can't bring one back for him." she said with a teasing smile. "Maybe one with a poem about missing someone? Look, there's a stall over there. Go buy one and catch up with us later."

Lilun clicked his tongue in annoyance but didn't argue. Without a word, he turned and walked toward the lantern stall, leaving the group behind.

Ye Ruyan watched him leave, a knowing smile on her face. She turned and saw Little Snake happily picking out a sugar sculpture of the Dragon King, with Mo Yun walking closely behind him. She tilted her head smiling while watching them. Her eyes flickered to the little snake and her smile deepened.

Meanwhile, Lilun was looking at lanterns. His eyes landed on one with a beautiful phoenix design. Just as he reached out to take it, someone tugged at his sleeve. He turned to see a small child staring up at him.

"Great demon, can you help me?" the child asked in a soft voice. "My sister is in trouble."

Lilun looked closely and realized the child was a little fox demon. "What happened to your sister?"
