Nico

"-birthday too you!" We all finish singing as Me, Will, and Conner help Matteo blow out his birthday candle.

Everyone cheers, and Annabeth and Percy daughter giggles, clapping her hands.

Today was Matteos' first birthday, and a lot has happened.

Over this last year, we welcomed Percy and Annabeths daughter Marina Jackson into the world, and her and Matteo were thick as thieves.

Conner was released last month from the psychic hospital. He still needed to go to therapy once a week to keep up with his health.

He reunited with Matteo, and true to his words, he didn't try to get back custody.

He just wanted to be in his life.

Piper and Jason and Leo, and Calypso both got engaged, as well. I think we kicked off something when Will and I got engaged.

We decided the wedding would be next year, we were going to have it at the lake, the same place we said I love it, same place we got engaged, and same place we lost our virgi-

Well, you get the picture.

I remember I need to grab Matteos gift from our room and I head to my room and when I grab the gift I look at the photo of sister on the nightstand and I pick it up gently looking at it.

Today's also the 1 year anniversary of when she died...

"Nico?" I heard, and I quickly wiped the tear falling down my cheek.

"S-sorry, I was grabbing Matteos gift," I say shakily, and Will grabs the gift and puts it on the bed, and pulls me in his arms.

"You're allowed to be sad... it's the first anniversary of her death..." He whispers, and tears run down my face, and I choke back a sob.

"It's Matteos' birthday... I don't want every year to be a reminder of his Mom's death." I say now quietly, sobbing, and he shushes me, kissing the top of my head.

"Don't think like that, look he'll eventually learn... but that's why we have to remind him that not only is it his birthday, but the day we can celebrate his mom's life too. Remind him of how much she loves him and how much she wants him to be happy." He says and burry my head in his chest.

"But me sobbing about it isn't going to help that Will." I say sniffling.

He lifts my head up in his hands, wiping my tears away.

"I imagine it will get easier to cope with as time goes on, but tears just show how much you loved her, Nico... you're allowed to mourn your sister..." He says, and I nod, sniffling, taking a shaky breath.

"Thank you." I whisper, and he leans down, giving me a soft kiss and leans his head on mine.

"No need to thank me? Are you feeling a bit better?" He asks, and I nod, wiping my eyes.

"Yeah, I am. We should probably get back to the party." I say, and he kisses my head and takes my hand and grabs the present with the other.

"You think Matteo will like this?" He asks, and I snort.

"Maybe he's also a one year old. He'll probably like the box more." I retorted, and he chuckles a bit.

We reached the party, and my Dad made eye contact with me and frowns with concern.

Was it obvious I was crying?

I place the present down and my Dad walk over.

"Stai bene, mio piccolo soldatino?" He asks in Italian, and I smile lightly.
