Overlord Intro Part 2: The Moon, XVIII

Start from the beginning

Loona caught you staring, and grunted. She let her phone drop onto her chest, and turned her head to look at you more directly.

"What are you looking at?"

It then occurred to you that Loona still didn't like the fact that you were trying to become an Overlord. She would know what you were doing if you asked her. Still, you had to try, so you swallowed any reservations you may have had, and tried to speak confidently.

"Loona, you're strong."

At this, Loona's face became pink, and she raised an eyebrow. She shifted, sitting up on the couch. The color from her cheeks had faded fast.

"Yeah? Why?"

"I've never been on any missions, because I'd end up on fire, due to...you know."

Loona cocked her head to the side, wondering where you were going with this.

"I don't have any experience...utilizing this body." You gestured to yourself. "If you don't mind, could you train me?"

"Why, so you can finally break out of my headlocks?" Loona snickered.

"No," you replied, giving a small chuckle, before giving your honest reasons. "In order to become an Overlord, I need to be stronger. Faster. It—"

Loona growled, stopping you. "I never said I would help you," she snarled, becoming angry now that you had made yourself clear. You were still her friend, so despite the rude response, you knew she wasn't being as horrid as she could've been. "I already told you I wouldn't help you become an Overlord."

"Sure, but Loona—"

"No, (Y/N)!" she barked. "If you want to waste your time training, just so you can get yourself killed, I'm not going to help you!"

You stopped talking, and the room became silent. You waited, letting the air in the room settle, before you took a deep breath.

"But you would help me if I wasn't going to?" you asked, remarking on the phrasing of her outburst.

Loona shifted uncomfortably. She suddenly found the water cooler interesting, using it as an excuse to avoid your gaze.

"Maybe," was all she said.

You gave her a wry smile, though she didn't see it.

"I have reasons that I want to get stronger that don't involve...that," you said, avoiding mentioning the topic of becoming an Overlord directly. "I've already told you how I feel about my body. I've gotten better, but I think it would help me a lot if you taught me how to use it properly. Even just moving around with some more grace could do me some good."

Loona snorted. Both at saying that using your body as a weapon was "proper," and that you had just inadvertently called her graceful. She sighed, and stood up. Your eyes followed. She waited, then got irritated.

"Get up, loser. Let's do this," she said, annoyed. She had lost all anger in her voice, and seemed almost excited, despite her tone. Your heart beat faster as you realized what she meant.

"What? Here? Now?" you asked, which earned another irritated response from Loona.

"Yeah, why not? You haven't gotten any calls in the last few hours. I doubt Blitzø will mind if you stepped away from the phone for a while."

You smiled, grateful that your friend was willing to do this for you. She knew what you were going to do with what she taught you, and yet was going to teach you anyway. You were also eager to finally be a little bit more comfortable in your own skin.
