“Kids, it used to be just me, your uncle Namjoon and his husband, your uncle Seokjin, in a college dorm. Once we graduated, we shared an apartment..”
The apartment was big enough to have two rooms, a big living room and a kitchen off to the left side of the front door. The two bedrooms were by the right side of the room opposite each other. The bathroom was past the fireplace that was barely used. There was a small flat screen TV in front of the couch where Namjoon and Taehyung sat and watched something randomly on TV, not caring about what was on. They just needed some background noise.
“Taehyung, you're my best friend, and I need some advice..” Namjoon spoke softly as he turned to face Taehyung. His hands were shaking in his lap as his eyes were locked on his hands.
“What's up?” Taehyung hummed as he turned to look at Namjoon and then glanced down at his hands.
“I'm thinking of asking Seokjin to marry me,” Namjoon admitted as he looked over at Taehyung.
“No way!” Taehyung exclaimed as he jumped up to stand on the couch in excitement. “That's amazing, Namjoon!”
“Really?” Namjoon blinked. “I've already got the ring, I just.. I wanna do it today at some point” Namjoon released a breath he didn't know he was holding. “I'll do it when he gets home from work!”
Taehyung slipped off the couch and sat down again. “Do you need me out of here? You know, in case you two have sex on the kitchen floor?”
Namjoon chuckled. “Yeah, that would be for the best”
“I'll hang at the bar or ask Jeongguk if he wants to go on that date,” Taehyung replied with a smile.
“Oh yeah, you haven't messaged him yet, Why haven't you?” Namjoon asked with an eyebrow raised.
Truth was, Taehyung was nervous to message first. He waited for the weekend to be over before he messaged the other man. He didn't want to take away the enjoyment of a wedding ceremony. Even if it was a friends best friend's wedding. He also wanted to make sure he didn't want to bother him or anything like that. He over-thought a simple hello message.
“I didn't want to bother him-” Taehyung groaned.
“Taehyung, I swear this is the guy for you. You just haven't realised it, not after all your previous attempts at a relationship” Namjoon pushed. “You'll realise it sooner or later..”
“Maybe..” Taehyung sighed. “Do you really think he is..?” He didn't want to finish that sentence. It wasn't because he didn't want to, but it was because he couldn't believe what he was saying.
“I do think so,” Namjoon nodded. “Now message him!” He nudged the other's shoulder to encourage him.
“Alright, alright” Taehyung laughed as he pulled out his phone and tapped his way through his lockscreen to his message app, tapping against the keyboard on the screen as he composed a message to the other man.
“I wouldn't expect him to reply right away. It's after his friends, best friends, wedding, and he's probably hungover” Taehyung shook his head.
“I wouldn't doubt that,” Namjoon sighed. “But as you said, he is a streamer, so he's probably getting ready for the streaming event you mentioned so he could be busy, and it might take a while to reply”
“That's true, you're right” Taehyung nodded as he placed his phone on the coffee table in front of him as he waited for a reply.
He didn't have to wait long, though, as he heard his phone buzz against the coffee table. He glanced at it and saw Jeongguk's name pop up on the lockscreen. Just as he was about to pick it up, Namjoon stopped him.
“Wait, wait, you gotta act cool, natural.. chill” Namjoon emphasised what he meant by sliding down on the couch.
“...You do you Namjoon..” Taehyung shook his head as he picked up his phone to answer the text.
“Ah..” Taehyung trailed off softly.
“What is it?” Namjoon asked as he sat up.
“He's busy unpacking and setting up his apartment currently..” Taehyung replied with disappointment in his tone. “And settling in still.. he's not used to the big city like this..”
“Where's he from again? Busan?”
“Yeah,” Taehyung nodded. “Busan, it's not too far from Daegu. It's a bit further south east-ish” He added as he tapped a reply to Jeongguk.
“What are you gonna say to him?” Namjoon asked as he stood up to walk to the kitchen to get a drink.
“That when he's free, he can text to let me know if he wants to meet up” Taehyung smiled. “Otherwise, I'll head down to the bar and give Seokjin and you some privacy” He winked.
“Thanks so much, man. I owe you big time,” Namjoon replied from the kitchen and walked out with a glass of water. “Oh! Also, maybe you could take Jeongguk to dinner after the streaming event? He might be tired and hungry from streaming for a full day” He suggested as he sat down on the couch again.
“That would be a great idea” Taehyung replied as he tapped against his phone screen again to send another text. “I'll be down at the bar shortly cause Seokjin will be home soon, right?”
“In about three minutes” Namjoon replied with a smirk. It takes three minutes to get up to the apartment from the bar.
Taehyung then stood up from the couch and almost raced out the door, letting it close behind him but then returning to grab a jacket from the hook by the door and running back out past Seokjin
“Where are you going in a hurry?” Seokjin asked as he watched Taehyung rush down the hall.
“Bogum is having trouble with low staff at the moment and asked if I could help for a couple of hours,” Taehyung replied. It was a pretty lame excuse, but Seokjin didn't question it.
“Okay.. then..” Seokjin shook his head as he made his way to the apartment.
Stepping inside the apartment whilst opening the door, he let his backpack slip from his shoulder. “I just saw Taehyung rushing down to the bar to help Bogum..? Did he tell you..?”
“Uh.. yes, that's why he was rushing out the door..” Namjoon nodded. “No other reason” He glanced at the other. “Anyway, how was your day?”
“Huh..well anyway, one of the boys in my kindergartens class got to second base with me,” Seokjin explained as he took off his coat to show a purple child sized handprint on his right pectoral. “What about yours?”
“Oh nothing special, just did some more studying for my law paper I need to write” Namjoon replied as he stood up from the cough and let Seokjin sit down and sort his things out.
“Oh yeah, how's that coming along?” Seokjin asked as he was facing away from Namjoon.
“Good good..” Namjoon nodded to himself as he pulled out the ring box and lowered himself down onto one knee. “It's going good..”
“That's good-” Seokjin turned to look at Namjoon, and from where he was sitting, he saw the ring in the ring box, which was in Namjoon's hand. Namjoon kneeled on one knee and looked at him with such fondness.
“Seokjin will you-”
“Yes! Yes! You don't even need to ask!” Seokjin exclaimed as he went to kiss Namjoon and put the ring on his ring finger.
“Is that why Taehyung was running out of here?” Seokjin asked.
“That, and he wanted to be gone before we had sex on the kitchen floor,” Namjoon admitted with a laugh.
“Smart” Seokjin nodded and then dragged Namjoon to the kitchen where they would celebrate their engagement.
“Kids… it's uncomfortable to have sex on the kitchen floor. The tiles are cold.. do it in bed, it's more comfortable on the back”
