THE PRESENCE of Jacob Portman at Miss Peregrines home had seemed to be a one time wonder.Most of my housemates having a sad expression on their faces as the loop had been reset and their curfew had come,the realisation that the boy would most likely not return back had some like a punch.

I,for one, was happy he wouldn't come back. When Jacob had gone out of the loop,all the dangers had gone with him. Dangers of a hollowgast or even a wight. Dangers of friendships falling apart again or of another housemate dying. It was all gone and I couldn't be happier that Jacob had left.

My happiness didn't last long,going away in a blink when Emma told us that last night,while helping the Portman boy out of the loop,a bird had flown into the loop,breaking her wing as she hit the stone wall.

"And who is she? I can only assume it's an ymbryne." I asked the blonde,a questioning look on my face.

"Miss Peregrine reckons it's Miss Avocet." Emma answered,leaning on the wall.

"I knew he would bring some sort of trouble! He is Abe's grandson at the end of the day." I said,raising my hand and putting it on my forehead,already feeling a headache come my way.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She now balanced herself,leaving the wall. Emma always got angry when anyone would say something about Abe.

"All I'm saying is that it's more than a coincidence that a Portman has bought problems here,twice." I said,taking a glance at the room. A few of us were here,mostly the older ones.
Olive and Horace were having a chat that stopped when Emma came into the room to tell everyone what had happend,Millard was pestering me about some book he found and thought I might like,Enoch was sitting in the corner, finishing one of his clay creations while throwing glares and Hugh who was talking way too loud.

"You never liked Abe and now your spreading your hate to Jake,be fair,Atena!"

"I am fair,I'm just simply saying what everyone thinks!" I shot Emma a glare,throwing my hands in the air.

"Jake's back!" Claire came running,the twins closely behind her which made Emma run to the kitchen,where Jacobs voice was heard.

Claires announcement was also met with a scoff from the corner,making me turn my head to see Enoch had gotten up from his seat before I felt myself being pulled by Hugh with one hand while he pulled Fiona with his other, "I'm curious what's happening there,get up you two."

"Let my arm go,Hugh! I'm on my feet now." I said,pulling my arm out of his hand and letting them pass by me as I made my way after them.

"Ymbrynes are always female.And Emma was quite correct." We heard our headmistress tell Jacob.

The boy gave her an understanding look, "This is Miss Avocet.Her loop's in Blackpool. England." He said,holding a letter in his hands which ended up in Miss Peregrines after she snatched it from him.

"That was a private letter, Jake."

Jacob seemed to not take Miss Peregrines words in,having more questions than answers,"Who is Mr. Barron?"

"Miss Peregrine, if my Grandpa was involved with dangerous people...I need to tell the police." The boy said after being met with silence.

Miss Peregrine now had a concerned look on her face as if what Jacob had told her was not making any sense, "Police? Are you implying Abe died an unnatural death?" Her voice sounding hurt as the woman realised another of her children had died.
