What if the story you thought was yours... was never yours to begin with?
There are stories within stories. Lives within lives. And I, a mere observer, have been tasked with narrating one such story.
She does not know I exist. She does not know I am watching. But her story must be told.
This is the beginning.

ENTRY 1
My family is one of the most respected in Vasmos. Generations of narrators, crafting stories that shape entire existences. I haven't started my own work yet—I'm still too young—but I follow my father wherever he goes, absorbing every lesson he offers.
This is my first practice entry. My father is taking me to the field today, to a planet called Earth. I've heard many things about it—some say it's filled with chaos and filth, others say it's full of wonders. I suppose I'll find out for myself.
---
"Gill! Gill!" My father's voice snaps me out of my daze.
"Yes, Papa," I reply, quickly straightening.
"Remember the rules—no touching, no interference."
I nod. "Yes, Papa."
He gives me a firm look. "You only record the important things. Stay close to me."
I tighten my grip on my recorder. "Okay, Papa."
The first thing I notice about Earth is how alive it is. The streets are bustling with people. A child stomps her feet in frustration, her cries piercing through the air. A group of musicians plays on the corner, their rhythm drawing in a small crowd. A man waves frantically for a taxi, while others rush past him, lost in their own worlds. It's chaotic, yet mesmerizing.
Maybe Earth isn't as bad as people say.
Then I see it—a man tossing his garbage onto the street, the stench wafting through the air. I wrinkle my nose.
"Disgusting," I mutter under my breath.
My father chuckles beside me. "Not Earth, Gill. The people."
I glance up at him. "Why are they like this?"
His eyes sweep over the bustling city, his expression unreadable. "Because they make their world this way."
