After finishing their shopping, Selene and Evelyn returned to the company. Selene resumed her work, while Lucian remained in his office, handling business matters.

As the day came to an end, Lucian and Selene left the company together. Once they arrived home, they had dinner, took their baths, and went to bed, preparing for the busy day ahead.

The Next Morning...

The sun rose over the city, casting a golden glow through the large windows of Lucian's mansion. Selene stretched lazily, feeling the warmth of the morning light on her skin. The events of the previous day still lingered in her mind, but today was another challenge-returning to work, followed by the highly anticipated company event in the evening.

Lucian had already risen, his sharp suit perfectly in place as he adjusted his cuffs. He turned to Selene with a smirk. "Get ready, wife. We have a long day ahead."

Selene rolled her eyes playfully but smiled. "Yes, husband."

After breakfast, they headed to the company, where whispers followed them as always. Employees exchanged curious glances, still adjusting to the fact that their cold and powerful CEO was now a married man.

Selene settled into her desk, determined to prove herself in her new role. She worked diligently, refusing to let the lingering stares and murmurs affect her focus.

Hours passed, and soon, the workday came to an end.

After returning home, Selene stepped into her dressing room, holding the elegant dress she had bought earlier. It was stunning-deep sapphire green with intricate loops at the back, a design that made it nearly impossible to fix on her own.

She sighed, staring at her reflection. "Seriously... who designed this?"

After several failed attempts to fasten the loops, she huffed in frustration. There was no way she could do this alone.

With a reluctant sigh, she called out, "Lucian... I need your help."

Footsteps echoed outside the room before Lucian appeared at the doorway, his sleeves rolled up, revealing the lean muscle of his forearms. His sharp gaze swept over her, amusement glinting in his eyes.

"Help with what, exactly?" he asked, stepping closer.

Selene turned slightly, exposing her bare back. "The loops. I can't fix them."

Lucian's smirk deepened as he moved behind her, his fingers brushing lightly against her skin as he started fastening the dress. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down her spine.

"You could've just asked earlier," he murmured, his voice lower than usual.

Selene's breath hitched when his fingers trailed over her back, deliberately slow, as if testing her reaction. She didn't move, her hands gripping the front of the dress as he continued securing each loop.

Lucian leaned in slightly, his lips brushing against her ear. "You're shivering."

"I'm not," she whispered, but her body betrayed her.

A quiet chuckle escaped him. He finished fastening the dress but didn't move away. Instead, his hands slid to her waist, pulling her gently against him.

"Lucian," she started, but the moment his fingers trailed up her spine, her breath caught, a soft moan slipping past her lips.

Lucian stilled. Then smirked.

"Oh?" His voice was dangerously smooth, teasing. "What was that, Selene?"

Her face burned. "Nothing-"

Lucian's fingers traced her back again, and another quiet sound escaped her lips.

"Hmm," he murmured, pressing a kiss against her shoulder. "So... you like that?"

Selene squeezed her eyes shut, biting her lip, but her silence only encouraged him. His lips traveled up, pressing against the curve of her neck. One of his hands slid into her hair, fingers tangling in the silky strands. He tugged lightly, and she gasped.

Lucian groaned, his voice husky. "You really are full of surprises, aren't you?"

Selene turned in his arms, trying to glare at him, but her flushed face only made her look more tempting. Lucian didn't resist-he captured her lips in a deep, lingering kiss, his hand still wrapped in her hair, stroking slowly.

She moaned again, and Lucian's grip on her tightened.

"You're making it hard for me to stop," he murmured against her lips.

Selene swallowed hard. "Then don't."

Lucian growled softly, capturing her lips again-deeper, more intense this time. His hands roamed her waist, pressing her against him, letting her feel just how much she affected him.

A sharp knock on the door made Selene jolt back.

Lucian exhaled heavily, clearly annoyed. "What?"

"Sir, the car is ready," a voice called from outside.

Selene let out a shaky breath, smoothing down her dress. "We... should go."

Lucian sighed, brushing his thumb over her lips before smirking. "This isn't over."

With that, he stepped back, fixing his suit, his eyes dark with intent.

Selene knew that tonight's event was going to be a long one-especially with the way Lucian was looking at her.

As their car pulled up in front of the grand mansion, Selene's breath hitched. The place was dazzling-adorned with shimmering lights, a luxurious red carpet leading into the estate, and a sea of guests dressed in their finest attire.

But despite the beauty, there was a heavy weight in the air.

Lucian stepped out first, his towering figure exuding power and confidence. As soon as he did, all eyes turned toward him.

Then, Selene stepped out, her arm looped through his.

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Whispered murmurs spread like wildfire.

"Who is she?"
"Isn't that the woman from the company?"
"Why is she with Lucian?"
"Wait... is she his date?"

" Or perhaps, is she the rumored wife everyone is talking about" the reporters whispered. They are very curious to know but they know more than to shove their microphones to Lucian's face.

Selene felt her stomach twist as the attention grew overwhelming. Instinctively, she moved closer to Lucian, her fingers clutching his sleeve.

Lucian, noticing her nervousness, gently took her hand in his. He didn't hesitate-he interlaced their fingers firmly and pulled her in, his expression unreadable yet protective.

"Stay close," he murmured, his voice deep and reassuring.

With his grip steadying her, they walked into the mansion together.
