moon jieun - monday
"what are you doing?" i furrow my brows as felix shovels up all of his hyacinths. we were sat in the greenhouse, mr. lee having cancelled class due to his obvious personal drama.
"it's gonna be spring soon, i'm gonna plant them outside." he answers, hands covered in soil as he continues his work.
"what about in here?" i ask.
"i don't usually grow anything here in the spring. i can grow most things outside." he shrugs. i frown slightly at that.
"oh."
"you sound disappointed." felix stops for a moment, looking up at me.
"well... i just... i liked the flowers in here."
"they look much better outside in the spring time." he chuckles.
"i get that, but i like it here."
"ah, i get it." felix quips, clapping his hands together to dust them off. i watch as he reaches into his bag, and pulls out some flower seeds in a packet. he tosses it to me, and my brows furrow as i catch it.
"what's this?" i cock a brow at him.
"primrose." he smiles.
"and why are you giving them to me?"
"so you can grow them, of course."
"me? no, i don't—"
"sure you do." he cuts me off before i could even say i didn't have a green thumb. "you've been watching me tend to my flowers for a whole month now, i'm sure you can do the same."
"i don't know..."
"try it, come here." he scoots over on his knees, patting the dirt beside of him. i sigh, pushing myself off the bench, and dropping to my knees beside of him. i watch as he pushes the soil back into place, flattening it out with his hands.
"okay... now what?"
"dig a hole." he nods his head toward the soil. i place the packet of seeds down by my thigh, reaching forward, digging into the soil. "now grab your seeds, and sprinkle them in." he instructs. so i do as he says, and he helps me push the soil over the seeds.
"and now?"
"we wait." he states, dusting his hands off as he stands up. he holds out a hand for me, so i take it, and he pulls me to my feet.
"well that was simpler than i thought." i chuckle slightly, dusting my hands off as well.
"flowers are easy to grow, they just need someone who cares enough to plant them." and like always, his words hit deeper than he probably intended.
"what's your major?" i ask suddenly, his eyes widen briefly at the change of subject. "english right?" i recall. it felt like he'd told me lifetimes ago.
"yeah." he nods. "why?"
"ever thought about changing it?"
