.............

I woke up erratically, gasping for air from the nightmare I had.

Rushing to the toilet, I emptied my stomach, my body wracked with pain.

I had a nightmare about that night.

I stayed in place as the memories flooded back-his hands on me, pulling at my hair.

I still had the urge to die when someone touched me.

I couldn't say that to Patrick or my friends because I was supposed to be over it.

But I couldn't ignore this.

Waking up every few nights to throw up...

Because in my last encounter with him, he had the upper hand.

I washed my mouth and walked to my parents' room, knocking.

My dad opened the door, fully awake.

"You're awake, love? What's wrong?" He ushered me inside the grand bedroom.

"Da...?" I hesitated as I sat down, watching him fasten his cufflinks.

"Yes, pet?" He looked at me, then sat beside me.

"I want to meet him... Connor."

His eyes widened, but he didn't dismiss me.

"Why, love?" He took my hand in his.

"Because... I still see him. And I need to know he can't come after me. So please, can I see him?"

He rubbed his forehead for a long moment before slowly nodding.

"Okay, love. We'll tell your ma to stay, and we'll go to Dublin next week," he said, standing up.

"Next week? Can't we go now?" It was still early. We could make it in a couple of hours.

He sighed, then nodded. "Okay. Go get ready, then. I'll tell your ma."

I nodded and walked out of their room.

Twenty minutes later, Mam was hugging me tightly in her sleeping gown.

"Are you sure you can do this?" She held my face in her hands.

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure. I have to."

She gave me a sympathetic smile.

"You're so strong. I'm so proud of you."

I smiled at her encouraging words.

"Thanks, Mam. I'll see you tonight."

She nodded slowly, letting me go.

"Okay. Drive safely."

The drive to Dublin was silent, the cloudy weather making everything look even eerier.

I didn't know what to expect.
