Reapercussions

As we get outside, gunshots go off. I run over with Marcus and others. "What happened?" Someone yells. "I saw someone! In the trees!" A man yells. I don't recognize him. "What did they look like? How many?" Marcus asks him. "I don't know... I swear I saw someone!" He urges. "That could have been MY people. Who the fuck even gave you that?" I snap at him. "I did." A woman says and I look over my shoulder. "Major B." I greet and she nods at me. 

Marcus takes the gun from him. "From now on. No one but the guard gets guns." He tells Major Byrne who nods. "From here on out! Any unauthorized use of a firearm, will be punishable as a felony under the Exodus Charter." Marcus calls out to everyone surrounding us. "Is that clear?" He yells hearing answers of yes. "Marcus. Search the damn woods." Abby says walking back to the medical tent. He turns nodding at Major Byrne who nods giving orders. 

"Hey! Watch the trees." I call and she nods at me. I head to check on Raven for a minute, seeing her talking to Abby. "Hey. What's going on?" I ask her. "They need to do surgery to remove the bullet. But I'd be awake the whole time." She tells me. "And she could die." Finn cuts in. "Ray are you sure? And I mean really sure?" I ask her and she nods. "I need my legs down here." She says and I nod. "If you can hold out ten minutes. I could find Mira or Keran. See if they have anything to numb you or just knock you out? Or something for pain." I offer. 

"Ten minutes is all I can spare." Abby tells me and I nod. "Just prep her and I'll be back." I say running out of the tent. "Hey. I need to find Keran or Mira." I tell Marcus and Murphy. "Why?" Murphy asks me. "Raven's hurt pretty bad. They don't have any medicine for her here. I wanna see if they have anything that might help her." I explain.

"I'm going with you." He tells me. "Fine." I nod. "Woah wait." Marcus stops us. "They'd be right at the tree line. They wouldn't go far after telling me to call if I need help." I tell him and he sighs. "Fine. But the first sign of danger. Your camp bound." He says and I shake my head. "Nice try. I'd bribe Major B or Millers dad to let me out." I grin and he sighs shaking his head. 

We head for the treeline and I scan a few trees. "Mira? Keran?" I call looking around. "Yes, Artemis Kom Skaikru?" I hear and turn seeing Keran. "What does that mean?" I ask curiously. "Artemis of the Sky People." He tells me. "Cool. Off topic. I have a huge favor to ask." I tell him and he hums. "Do you or your sister have anything to help with pain? Or just knocking someone out temporarily?" I ask and he pauses.

"Why do you ask?" He asks me. "One of my people. She was shot on accident. The bullet is stuck near her spine. The need to get it out, but have no medicine to support the surgery. I know it's asking a lot. But anything will help." I tell him and he thinks for a minute. "Besides something for pain... what about a temporary paralytic?" He asks and I hum.

"That could definitely help. How temporary?" I ask him. "Two hours. Give or take." He tells me. "That would be perfect. If your willing to let us use it." I tell him. "In return for this. You let me train you." He tells me. "Train me?" I ask curiously. "To fight. Like my people fight." He tells me. "That sounds fun." I whisper to Murphy who snorts at me.
