Episode 13:
We Are Grounders-2
"Mira? I haven't even met her. Why are you helping me?" I ask confused. "My sister is very persistent. And annoying at times. She insisted you needed to be saved. I do not blame her. You're a brave fierce girl." He tells me. "Well thanks. But I need to go find someone." I say turning away. "The boy? The one who was captured with you?" He asks and I pause.
"Don't talk to me about that. I just need to find him." I say and he sighs. "I will help you. But you must be quiet." He tells me sternly. "I know how to walk quietly. I'm not an idiot." I snap at the man. He raises a brow at me, but nods walking past me. I sigh and start to follow him, moving quietly. A loud noise, and a blast of heat makes me duck, turning my head.
Seeing flames die down my eyes widen. "It fucking worked." I say with a grin. "Sorry.." I wince looking at the man in front of me. "We must keep moving." He says walking away and I frown. "Look, I don't know how this rivalry started. Cause apparently it happened while I was being tortured. But it's both sides fault." I shrug at him.
"How? You're people burned one of our villages to the ground. And then when asked if the others would listen, when they came here. Your people would not promise to control them." He says and I scoff. "They told me about the flares. That was just a signal meant to tell them we were still alive. We didn't even know there were people alive down here until your people speared my best friends brother." I say glaring at the back of his head.
"Well, if you wouldn't have crossed the treaty line. We wouldn't have." He says back. "Oh, so he brought that on himself? We were told there were supplies on a mountain, and then got dropped on the wrong one. We were just looking for supplies and he was nearly killed!" I snap.
He scoffs walking quietly for a minute. "Your wound has healed quite well." He says clearly trying to change the subject. I bite my lip, wanting to bitch about who gave it to me but don't. I didn't need those memories flashing in my head right now. "Yeah. It has..." I mutter softly. "It will not make it go away. But I would like to apologize. That has never been allowed by our people. We would never condone that. Which is why I told her to give you their names." He tells me and I stop.
"Why?" I ask and he stops looking back at me. "Why would you do that? They're still your people." I say frowning. "My people, do not take advantage of girls or women. My people, while harsh in many ways. Still have decency to not do what they did. Those men, are not my people." He says sternly. I pause taking in what he said and nod silently.
We keep moving, now completely quiet. I could hear talking and grunting and frown. "That could be him." I whisper and Keran nods his head. We move closer to the noise, Keran making me stay behind him. I rolled my eyes at that. "It is the boy. There is only one guard." He tells me quietly. "Good." I hum slinking around him before he could stop me.
I pull out one of my knives silently. As I get behind the man, I press the knife right against his pulse point. "Drop all your weapons. And get the fuck away from him." I say, forcing myself to not cower away from the grounder. He pauses, and seems to glance at me. "Move wrong, even twitch in a way I don't like? You'll be dead in seconds." I say with a glare.
His hands move slowly, his weapons hitting the ground one by one. "Back the fuck up." I say when his weapons are all on the ground. He starts backing up, then tries charging at me. I think of all the combat lessons Marcus had given me. 'Catch them off guard right off the bat. It will give you an in. Especially since you're so small.' As the man gets closer I sidestep and throw my knee up, hitting his stomach. He doubles over, clearly shocked, and I knee him in the face.
He stumbles back, clearly more angry now. I swing my foot again and he catches my leg throwing me. I roll across the ground and groan. I hear his heavy footsteps and scramble up quickly. I can gripe about my pain later. He charges me again and I dart out of the way snorting when he barely misses hitting a tree. I run back towards Murphy and grab the spear off the ground. I duck behind a tree panting.
"Come on out little girl." I hear the man taunting and scowl. I hear him getting closer and spin around the tree thrusting the spear out. I'm satisfied when it sinks into the mans side. The man cries out in pain sinking to his knees. I twist the spear when he reaches for it. "Let this serve you as a reminder. To never, fuck with the people I love." I glare at the man. I reach up and kick him backwards. He tumbles to the ground groaning in pain.
I grab the rest of his weapons moving them, sticking what I could on my belt loops. I walk over to Murphy and kneel down. "Hey. Murphy look at me." I say making him turn. "Goddess. My hero." He grins weakly. "I leave you alone for all of three seconds." I tease helping him up. "Come on. We need to get back to the dropship. Check on the others." I say and he nods.
We head into the trees and I jump when Keran drops out of a tree. "Easy Murph. He helped me find you. Remember how Finn said Mira made me the knives? This is her brother Keran." I tell him. He nods, still eyeing the man. "Let's head back." I tell him and we start a slow quiet walk back.
By the time we make it back, it's light out. As we get in the gate, I pause seeing all the burned bodies scattering the ground. "Holy shit..." I mumble. We head towards the dropship, which was now open. We get inside and there's no one. "Where is everyone?" I mumble and a shift makes me turn. Raven was on the floor holding a gun. "Woah. Easy Ray. It's me and Murphy." I say moving over to her. "What about that guy?" She asks and I look back seeing Keran still there. "He's so quiet I forgot he was there. That's Keran. He saved my life and helped me find Murphy." I explain.
"So he's a good one? Like Lincoln?" She asks. "I guess so. I still haven't met Lincoln so I couldn't tell you." I shrug at her. "Lincoln is viewed as a traitor right now." Keran mutters. "Anyways, what the hell happened?" I ask Raven. "Don't know. I passed out, and when I came to the door was open and everyone was gone." She explains and I frown.
"Alright. Let's just... take a rest then head to find someone. The Ark came down last night. So maybe we can find survivors." I tell her and she nods. "I'm okay with the rest part." She says making me chuckle and smile.
