Chapter 29

“So..” I drag out as I began to nervously fiddle with my fingers. We have been driving around for 30 minutes now and I still have yet to know where we’re even going. I glance over at Haerin and felt my heart flutter at the sight of her smiling softly as she began to hum the song on the radio. Her smile widens,

“Relax Min, no need to be nervous.” She says. She flickers her eyes towards me for a second and placed her hand over mine.

“Don’t worry. You’ll love where I’m going to take you.” She confidently states. I let out a breath and nod as I slowly began to relax under her touch. Seeing as I was no longer tense she smiles wide and places her hand back on the steering wheel.

“But why?” I ask timidly. She glances at me for a second before glancing back at the road confusedly,

“Why what?” She asks. I look down towards my hands,

“Why are we doing this?” I ask. I glance over her to see her stiffen slightly before letting out a breath and smiling slightly,

“Because I’m Kang Haerin and if I want to take Minji Kim on a date then I will.” She causally states causing me to blush madly and my heart to race instinctively. Before I could respond, she had quickly squealed in delight.

“We’re here!” I look to my side and began to chuckle,

“An ice cream parlor?” I ask while simultaneously unbuckling my seat belt with Haerin. She beams at me,

“Hell yeah!” She says and jumps out of the car in excitement. I playfully roll my eyes and began to follow suit, while admiring the way she extended her hand out for me to take. I smile shyly while taking her hand in mine and walking inside.

“This is where I go every time I want to clear my head or just to eat something sweet.” She says lightly as we make our way to the entrance.

This was an ice cream store no one would go to, which was a perfect advantage for us. Haerin was also apparently friends with the owner of the store, which helped me feel at ease knowing we wouldn’t be caught by fans or the public in general.

“How come you never told us about this place?” I asked as I scanned the store in awe. She chuckles and holds my hand with both of her hands while staring up at me,

“Because this place was my place but now it’s going to be our place.” She nonchalantly states causing me to swiftly look down at her in surprise with my heart thumping wildly against my chest. She giggles lightly seeing my cheeks reddening. Haerin looks away and bites her lip,

“Cute.” She mumbles quietly before pulling me to the register,

“Hi ajumeoni!” She excitedly says to a middle aged woman behind the counter. The woman smiles widely,

“Oh Haerin! What a pleasant surprise! The usual?” She asks as she makes her way to bucket of ice creams. The woman looks up and meets my gaze,

“Oh hello! And who do we have here?” She asks. The woman wasn’t very aware of the kpop life but she knew of our band, just didn’t know our names, which was quite refreshing for being unknown. I smile softly and lift my free hand up and sent her a friendly wave after bowing respectfully,

“Hello ajumeoni, my names Minji, I’m her—.”

“Mine. I-I uh mean my date.” She nervously stammers out. I widen my eyes and felt my cheeks heat up,

Hers huh?

“Uh.. yes. Her date.” I respond slowly. The woman’s eyes widen for a quick second before sending Haerin a teasing smile,
